Tom and Katie's big day came and went. We are still learning more about the event but it sounds pretty traditional to me. Katie had her Daddy walk her down the aisle and a bunch of bridesmaids by her side. As reported earlier, the bride and groom said I do in Armani. They had 150 guests at the Odescalchi Castle in Lake Bracciano, Italy where the rain stopped just in time for their affair. Yes, there is that whole Scientology thing but as most of you all know we are a sucker for weddings and babies and we'd much rather write about happy times like this then pending divorces (with the exception of Britney of course). With thousands of fans, photographers and TV cameras watching from afar, Cruise and Holmes were joined by family – Katie's dad Martin walked her down the aisle – and a slew of celeb pals, including Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, Brooke Shields and Chris Henchy, Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, and Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy, among others.

The sunset ceremony was performed by a Scientology minister, according to a statement from their reps. The wedding party included Cruise's children, Isabella and Connor, the best man was Cruise's best friend, David Miscavige – the head of the Church of Scientology – and Katie's sister Nancy Blaylock served as the matron of honor.

Though initially there were questions about whether Cruise and Holmes's marriage on Saturday was official – the Mayor of Bracciano, Italy, said the couple needed to have a civil ceremony in town in order to make it legal – Cruise's reps say Tom and Katie took care of everything beforehand.

"As is customary for couples marrying outside of the United States, Cruise and Holmes officialized their marriage in Los Angeles prior to their departure for Italy," according to the statement.

The big day has arrived and all are headed to the castle to see Tom and Katie say I Do. Check out Posh, Brooke, and JLo all dolled up as they leave their hotel to head to the big event. Katie was at the castle with Suri awaiting Tom's arrival. He came separately and gave a wave from his car. As expected, controversy around the couple and their big day is here. The TomKat marital extravaganza was in danger of becoming a $2.5 million farce as the clock ticked past the deadline for the celebrity couple to present the paperwork that would make their marriage legal.

As the sun set yesterday on the majestic medieval castle where they plan to wed, there was no sign that Tom Cruise or his beloved bride, Katie Holmes, had applied for a civil marriage license.

The couple, who are expected to hold a Scientologist wedding service at Castello Odescalchi today, now face the distinct possibility their union might be recognized only by a church that believes in aliens - and not the law.

"Wedding? What wedding?" the parish priest of Bracciano, where the couple plan to wed, told the Times of London. "There has been no application for a civil marriage, let alone a religious ceremony."

Fabrizio D'Agostino, a spokesman for the Church of Scientology in Rome, said the church had not been contacted by anyone about the Cruise-Holmes wedding.

He said an exchange of vows with a Scientology rite is not legally recognized in Italy and would have to be preceded or followed by a civil union. Rome's mayor had given the couple until yesterday to bring the necessary papers to city hall.

U.S. citizens planning to marry in Italy must present their passports, birth certificates and an affidavit that there is no impediment to their marriage. The documents need to be translated into Italian and certified.

Madonna's family just increased to five, so between playing mom and all the other fabulous things this lady does, it's good to see that she has time to go on a date with her husband. But when these two are at home playing house, Madonna is the strict one. She said, "If Guy (Richie) had his way, they'd watch three movies in a row and stay up until 3 in the morning."

Clive looks dashing all dressed up in LA for a private screening of his latest film, Children of Men. Clive stars in the movie with Julianne Moore - we're looking forward to seeing these two pair up. Look for Children of Men in theaters December 25th.
