Shocker - The Da Vinci Code won the box office this weekend even with all the terrible reviews it received. The movie made $77 million which is the highest grossing weekend so far in 2006. Da Vinci made over $224 million worldwide which is more impressive since it's the second largest WW opening behind "Star Wars: Episode III." I saw it and enjoyed it but I must admit I was hoping the pace would be a little faster. As expected, studios are already talking about making the prequel.
Since many were disappointed with the very obvious OC spoilers, I won't mention a thing about the season finale of Desperate Housewives until after the jump. In the meantime, enjoy the pics of scary Teri at the Laureus Sports Awards in Spain.

Diddy hosted a dinner in London and Victoria and David Beckham were guests. Rumor is they might be collaborating on a designer clothing line. Unfortunately, I don't think anyone told Posh that it was not a costume party. Her obvious inspiration, the giraffe.

Jennifer Aniston was seen leaving Casa Del Mar in Santa Monica this weekend. It looks like she is coming from a press junket and as expected, we'll be seeing a lot more of her in the next few weeks as she promotes The Break Up. Elizabeth Hurley & Elton John were at The Chopard Party in Cannes. Elton was in town to present an award at the film festival and he got a very agitated by all the interruptions. In fact, he told the photographers they should all be shot. Here's more:
Elton was presenting the trophy to Canadian actor Kevin Zegers, who co-starred in the movie Transamerica with Desperate Housewives' Felicity Huffman.
'He is only 21 years old, already he has showed incredible talent and maturity,' Elton began. 'I sincerely believe he will be a huge star and a great actor for many, many years to come.'
But as he was still speaking, photographers began calling out to him, enraging the superstar.
Elton continued: 'If you saw Transamerica ... I'm talking ... f****** photographers you should be shot, you should be all shot. Thank you.'
He then handed the award to a smiling Zegers, and told him: 'They are a nightmare.'
Elton has had a reputation of losing his patience with paparazzi but it's a shame the photographers were so distracting at a film festival. Who knows, maybe Elton and Britney will team up. Sarah Michelle is finally making her way back on the big screen in Southland Tales. The movie was just premiered in Cannes and while we've missed SMG but unfortunately The Hollywood Reporter panned the movie. They said, "(Sean William) Scott, (Dwayne "The Rock") Johnson and Sarah Michelle Gellar, as the porn star, do their best with the lame material, but it's uphill work. There was more fun and greater character development in 'Starship Troopers.'" Ouch. Maybe they make some tweaks before it hits theaters later this year.
