The Walking Dead: Everything You Need to Know Before Season 6 Starts

At Comic-Con, producer Scott Gimple said that, now that Rick is in with a new group of people, they won't necessarily go along with his leadership style without asking questions. "At the end of season five, he wanted everyone on board with him and everyone was with him — except for the porch d*ck." Andrew Lincoln added that there will be a power struggle: "We're exploring the themes of them and us this season, inside and outside." It's a sentiment that Lincoln echoed to Entertainment Weekly: "When I read the first script, I called [Gimple] up and went, 'You know, I say them and they, and us and we a lot.' He said, 'That’s your journey, from them to us.'"

At Comic-Con, actor Lennie James joked that his character has been "painting and getting to know himself" while Rick and his crew have been in hell, but then he confirmed that "we may find out this season what Morgan has been doing with himself. One of the things is that he's been trying to find Rick. I think we're going to find out where he's been and what he's been up to." He also told Entertainment Weekly that "He has gone through a transformation that viewers will find out about."

In addition to Ethan Embry, who appears in the trailer for season six, the producers announced that Nurse Jackie's Merritt Wever has joined the cast.

Three stars have been upgraded to series regulars: Alexandra Breckenridge, who plays Jessie, Austin Nichols, who plays Spender, and Tovah Feldshuh, who plays Deanna.

"He didn't want to go to Alexandria and doesn't like anything to do with suburbia," said Norman Reedus at Comic-Con. "He might go crazy later. He's going up and down all the time, and he finds his safe place, and it gets tested." He also finds himself staring down the barrel of a gun in the trailer, but something tells us he'll be just fine.

While at first Gimple was cagey about talking about the flashbacks during Comic-Con, he came clean that, yes, "there will be a whole lot of flashbacks. I'm working on an episode now that is a complete flashback." Give us all the flashbacks! Executive producer Greg Nicotero confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that "We do play with time a little bit, and not in a traditional sense. We open right in the middle of this heightened action sequence, and we then jump around in that time frame to allow the audience to put together in their own minds what it is that we actually just saw."
