Popsugar Popsugar Popsugar DIY on Refinishing an Old Table and Chairs Before and After: Dinning Room Set June 20, 2011 by Lauren Hendrickson A while back my husband and I inherited a lovely old dinning set. It was in great condition but definately had its nicks and extremely old cushions. We rolled up our sleeves and refinished this very large detail piece. As I had never refinished any furniture, I had no idea what a long process it turned out to be. After many hours of labor through we have a piece that we both aboslutely love. Before: Table Lots of scraches and water spots 1 / 10 Before: Chair The chairs were wobbly and fabric wasn't exactly my taste! 2 / 10 The Upholstery Easy to take a part but all of the fabric inside had started to deteriorate 3 / 10 The inside I am pretty sure there was some sort of animal hair that had been used in this cushion to make it extra soft at one point but now it was just extra gross. 4 / 10 Lots of Sanding and Staining The nooks and crannies of this table took a lot of extra attention. 5 / 10 Sanded and Stained Only two more chairs to go. 6 / 10 Finished Chair We actually didn't find our pefect fabric quite yet, so we decided to pick up something fun from ikea for the time being. 7 / 10 Finished Table and Chairs It was a process but we love the end results! 8 / 10 9 / 10 Every table needs flowers I love how a bowl of fruit or simple cabbage flowers pop against the table. 10 / 10
