But after talking to Bella Thorne, we're reconsidering. You probably recognize the chic 16-year-old from her recent movie roles (like Blended with Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler) and lead part on Disney's Shake It Up. She's also been popping up in the front row of Fashion Week. Her favorite designers? Kenzo, Fausto Puglisi, and Valentino. "I love Valentino's heels," she said. "They're so cute with their studs, yet they're so elegant, girlie, and feminine." (Damn, she's got way more style than we did as teens. Juicy Couture tracksuit anyone?) The Neutrogena ambassador reminds us of everything that's great about being a teen. For Bella, there are no limits when it comes to beauty. She's got some of the best braids in Hollywood, and she's trying hair trends straight off the runway. She's mastered the art of the selfie and has almost 3 million Instagram followers to show for it. Plus, she's often spotted on the red carpet with inventive manicure designs that we could never pull off (a nail piercing . . . uh, no). But unlike most teens, Bella has already learned the secret to antiaging — sunscreen. "I just went to Mexico, and I wasn't sunburned because of the Neutrogena Clear Face Liquid Lotion Sunscreen SPF 55 ($8)," she said. "It has SPF in it, and honestly it's the best because it's oil free and it's water resistant." Read on to learn more of Bella's best beauty tips and tricks! I’m kind of a strawberry blonde right now, just because my natural color is blonde and I still have some red left over. I go and get my color done from my hairstylist (her name is Rona), and she has a place called Lukaro’s. At home I use Neutrogena Triple Repair Shampoo ($6). That’s my favorite. It makes the strands of each hair tripled [in thickness]. And it mends split ends. Lukaro’s. "I cut my hair for Blended. I cut it really short, like almost a bob, shoulder length. And it was devastating. It was one of the worst things. . . . But now that I’m growing out my bangs, I think I’d look pretty OK with short hair. I think it’s cute; it’s fine. I know a lot of people are going short for Summer, and that’s chill, but I still really like my long hair." Nail Piercing No-No Image Source: Getty / Michael Buckner "Because I've been doing so many films, I haven’t been doing any kind of nail art. I really have nothing on my nails at all because I’m kind of forced to not have it. Usually I have those really long, beautiful nails. I even had a nail piercing at one point. It was really cool except it kept catching on my hair when I took a shower, so I had to take it out. But now I just really kind of keep it natural. I definitely love esNail. It's my favorite salon. They’re really the only people I go to." Her Favorite Filter "You can see that all of my selfies end up being from below, like a lower angle. I don’t believe in the high angle above your head. We call it the MySpace angle, just because it makes your head look so big compared to your body. My angle is definitely just the tip of the nose, it shows the lip shape just perfectly. On Instagram, my favorite filter is the first one that comes up. I think it's Amaro." The cream looks oily, and it makes your eye makeup look wet. I also like putting it on my cheeks after I put blush on, and it really makes you look like you just jumped in the ocean or something, but it isn’t smeared. If you’re going out to really cool places and you want a really drastic eye, try it with an eye shadow like the Neutrogena Crease Proof Eye Shadow ($9)." I tried to be what everybody wanted me to be, I tried to be likable, and I just wasn’t being me. "I think when the first day of school comes, you have to be you. Look like you, because the first impression people will get is that you’re trying to be someone else, and no one is going to like you then. Everyone will like you if you’re unique and yourself. So you will find friends if you’re being you, so don’t try to pack on the makeup and the hair and the clothes. I would say go in and let people see you and not all the things you’re wearing."
