A Foolproof Guide to Applying False Eyelashes No Matter Your Skills

If there's one thing that can take a makeup look from pretty to high drama, it's false lashes. Even if you're not going for an intense look, falsies can add that extra oomph to an everyday beauty routine. Unfortunately, many people are intimidated by the application process as it can get tricky when applying glue so close to your eyes. But those fears end today. Drawing from my personal experience and favorite YouTube beauty bloggers, I bring you the foolproof guide to applying false lashes.
Step 1
Delicately remove the falsie from the package to prevent pulling out lashes or damaging the lash strip.
Beauty blogger Nikkie Tutorials suggests cutting the lash in half if there is tension on the band. By doing this, it will prevent the outer and inner corners of the lash strip from lifting once they are glued on.
Tip: Use Tweezers to slowly peel the lash off the packaging, outer corner to inner corner.

Step 2
Before applying the falsie to your lash line, size the lash to your eye. Place the clean lash strip on top of your own. If the faux piece is too long for your eye, trim the outer corner. It is important to trim the outer corner and not the inner corner so that the natural and gradual lengthening is not distorted.

Step 3
After the lash is fitted to your eye, you are ready to apply lash glue. This is the most important part in applying false lashes. Coat the band of the false lash with enough glue to cover the entire strip. Allow the glue to dry for 45 seconds to one minute.
Note: Not allowing the glue to dry is the biggest mistake people make. If the glue is not given enough time to dry, the lash will slide along your lash line and won't stay where you want it to. It is a lot easier to apply the falsies when the glue is tacky and will immediately adhere to your lashes.
Tip: Apply a good amount of glue onto the back of the lash packaging. Let it get tacky while you apply a thin layer of mascara to your lashes. Then, use the end of a makeup brush or lip liner to apply the tacky glue to the lash.

Step 4
Looking down into a mirror, align and apply the falsie to your lash line. Don't worry about the outer or inner ends of the faux strands just yet. Once the center of the falsies adheres to your lash line, allow a few seconds for it to settle. Then, very gently and carefully use Tweezers or your finger to gently press the outer and inner corners onto your lash line.

Step 5
Softly pinch the falsies against your lashes to help blend them. If it doesn't look seamless, feel free to apply a thin layer of mascara to better disguise the fake lashes. If you don't want to apply mascara, delicately use an eyelash curler to get the falsie as close to your natural lash line as possible.

Step 6
After you have enjoyed a day or night out looking absolutely glamorous, it's time to give those lashes a rest. If you have sensitive eyes or have trouble removing your falsies, YouTube blogger Shannon Harris suggests taking a warm, damp towel and applying it to your lashes for a few seconds. The falsies should peel right off, pain-free. Also, take this opportunity to peel excess glue from the faux lash strip. By doing this you will extend the lifespan of your falsie and save yourself a few extra bucks!
