Ace Lupita Nyong'o's Colorful Makeup Look

Lupita Nyong'o only went to one show during New York Fashion Week, but her appearance made a huge splash. She paired her beautiful, pastel Calvin Klein outfit with equally bright makeup and her signature Afro. To create the ultraviolet eye look, makeup artist Nick Barose used a small eyeliner brush to sweep Votre Vu Palette Play in Violette ($29). He then swirled Lancome Blush Subtil in Aplum ($30) around the apples of her cheeks and applied two coats of Ck One Color Lipstick in Wanted ($16).

Her hair was kept simple. Ted Gibson focused on her mane's shape, using two shine lotions mixed with a strong holding wax to keep it in place. He then pressed hot towels onto her hair — a great technique for ladies with natural hair to avoid that "halo effect" of flyaways after they pick their Afros.
