When 1 Man Criticized a Boy in Makeup, Neil Patrick Harris Had the Best Response

When actor James Woods made a shockingly inconsiderate comment about a young boy wearing makeup, Neil Patrick Harris quickly fired back and called him out for his lack of sensitivity — and the internet is applauding Harris for his response.

Woods, who has appeared in Once Upon a Time in America and The Way We Were, recently took to Twitter to share a sweet photo of two parents with their son at what appears to be a Pride-related event. The parents are holding signs that read "I love my gender creative son" and "My son wears dresses and makeup . . . get over it!!" The young boy stands in the middle of the couple proudly holding a rainbow-colored flag and sporting face makeup.

When Woods tweeted the picture, he paired it with a crude, graphic caption, writing, "This is sweet. Wait until this poor kid grows up, realizes what you've done, and stuffs both of you dismembered into a freezer in the garage."

Yep, he actually went there. Sheesh.

When Harris caught wind of Woods's tweet, he quickly came to the defense of the family, which he happens to know in real life. The How I Met Your Mother actor responded and appropriately called him out for his "utterly ignorant and classless" statements.

After Harris fired off his response, the tweet quickly went viral, garnering more than 15,000 retweets and more than 70,000 likes. Plus, more than 1,000 other Twitter users chimed in and praised the actor for his defense of the family and commented on how the young boy in the picture is "beautiful" and deserving of love regardless of his makeup habits. The official Human Rights Campaign Twitter account even got in on the supportive action!
