7 Places You’re Probably Not Shopping For Beauty Sales — but Should Be

Chances are, you're a regular — or even a pro — when it comes to scouting out the best products and deals at popular beauty sources like Sephora and Ulta (see if your obsession has gone too far). The same can likely be said for local drugstores that you know like the back of your hand.

But what if we said there's a whole world of beauty you've yet to tap into? A fantasy world, if you will, where Bliss scrubs and lotions go for $8, Dr. Brandt antiaging creams can be yours for $12, and professional hair irons cost a cool $20. It sounds almost too good to be true, but (thankfully!) it isn't.

From T.J. Maxx (the sale shelf is the gift that keeps on giving!) to Nordstrom Rack (say hello to luxury goods at drugstore prices), read on for eight fully stocked and budget-friendly beauty resources you can't afford (literally) to overlook any longer.

H&M

H&M

H&M has built a massive business as a result of identifying and delivering on the latest clothing trends, and it now has a chic and budget-friendly cosmetics line to round out its offerings. Check the store's beauty section for blushes, eye shadows and nail polishes, all in sleek, retro-esque packaging you'll be proud to display on your vanity. Hair accessories, including plenty of bow barrettes, are also par for the course.

Bonus Tip: Visit the HM.com beauty store for any online-only discounts, and be sure to sign up for the newsletter to stay on top of special events and coupons.

LivingSocial

LivingSocial

LivingSocial boasts its own beauty shop where customizers can go to stock up on some of their everyday staples (such as Goody hair ties, O.P.I nail polish and It's a 10 hair care) for a fraction of the retail price. Last time we checked, there was also an abundance of hot tools (among them BaByliss Pro and CHI) and fragrances available.

Bonus Tip: Like Groupon, the site offers additional discounts.

Nordstrom Rack

Nordstrom Rack

You can expect to find some of the same beauty gems you'd find at Nordstrom at this discounted department store, but with much lighter price tags. Seriously, it's like you went into the store and discovered someone made a mistake! Locations typically offer a wide range of products, from drugstore (there's no shortage of Neutrogena and Burt's Bees) to designer (Kérastase Paris, Kiehl's, and Mario Badescu are regulars here) goods. There's also an extensive fragrance section, where you can score perfumes at up to 50 percent off the retail price.

Bonus Tip: Look for larger sizes. The store usually has a stock of jumbo products for getting even more for your money.

Groupon

Groupon

Next time you're browsing for local pizza deals, take a break to check out the Groupon Goods Health and Beauty section, which offers popular cosmetic items from brands like Urban Decay (including Naked palettes!), theBalm, and (recently) Tom Ford for a steep discount. The site also has a wide variety of fragrances and cheaper alternatives to your beauty favorites. We're big fans of these facial brush heads that are comparable to those from Clarisonic, available for a thrifty $8.

Bonus Tip: Groupon is known to host special events and sales (5 to 10 percent off) on their goods, so be sure to set up Google alerts and sign up for their newsletter for the latest.

Marshalls

Marshalls

This is another store under the TJX Companies umbrella that never ceases to disappoint. You may be surprised to see how many of your favorite brands (everything from Bliss and Lancôme to The Body Shop) are sold in the Marshalls beauty section at a mere fraction (we're talking 50 percent or less) of the retail price. There's also room for discovery, as we're always coming across indie and (more and more) organic brands we've never heard of.

Bonus Tip: Shop following major holidays. The store will mark down beauty sets that have seasonal packaging, even if the items inside are good year-round.

Forever 21

Forever 21

Go in for a shiny bodysuit and leave with everything you need to create an equally eye-catching makeup look, thanks to Forever 21's trendy and very affordable cosmetics line. It features everything from makeup tools (eyelash curlers, brushes, and sponges galore!) to shimmery eye shadows and matte lipsticks (add to that a lot of false lashes) for all of your partying needs.

Bonus Tip: Don't skip the line. Even if you're not buying any clothing or accessories, it's worth checking the register section for the latest makeup bags and beyond.

T.J. Maxx

T.J. Maxx

There's a good chance you've stopped by a T.J. Maxx (among the TJX family) to score a deal on a designer coat or suitcase, but believe us when we say there's much more than meets the eye. This store has become one of our go-tos for hot tools (we're talking $100 straighteners for as low as $20 to $40), hair care (the clearance section is every dry shampoo guru's dream) and skin care (we nabbed this $67 neck cream from Dr. Brandt marked down to $12). If you can't make it to a physical store, you can also scoop up a select offering of products at TJMaxx.com.

Bonus Tip: One of the best parts of this store's beauty section is the sale shelf, so start there for crazy-good discounts on skin and hair care. If you find two of the same items and one of them is priced higher (meaning it has missed a markdown), the store will typically give you the lower price for both.
