First it was the bob, then the lob and, as we recently introduced, even the mob — "man bob." Now, more and more celebs are twisting things up — literally — yet again with the "wob" (read: wavy bob or lob).

"The long, wavy bob look is very big and will stay that way for a while, as I'm consistently seeing people move toward this easy-to-style look," says Edward Tricomi, master stylist and cofounder of Warren-Tricomi Salons. "In the Winter, people usually lean toward clean yet low-maintenance styles, and this is something that fits into both categories, while also being playful and young."

Though shorter hairstyles have been a Tinseltown favorite for a few years, the beauty pro doesn't see the fad fading anytime soon. "It's a short hair look without the commitment; you can grow out quickly," adds Tricomi, who's been dubbed "Edward Scissorhands" for his dry-hair precision technique and rapid-fire cutting method.

Read on for his curl-enhancing tips, and then click through for more celebs doing the wave (and making a big splash!).

For getting basic waves in short hair:

"There are a few different ways to go achieve this look," he notes. "If you have straight hair, you can simply use a curling iron to create long, loose curls. Make sure that when you spin the hair around the iron, you only do so twice so the curls are not tight. If you have wavy hair, you should be able to scrunch it into place and touch up with a curling iron here and there."

For tousled waves:

"For tousled waves, I like to curl hair around an iron," he explains. "Then shake out the curls and use a texturizing spray or dry shampoo to give the look a little more grit."

For a more polished evening look:

"I would recommend starting with a clean blowout with finishing cream to prevent any frizz or stray hairs," he offers. "After, create loose curls with your iron, leaving the ends undone so they are straight at the bottom. Finish with hair spray and a shine spray for beautiful, healthy-looking hair."
