Best of Beauty From AFW to Inspire Your Next Event Look

Australian Fashion Week isn't just about clothes and how they're styled — it's also about the beauty looks complementing them. Is the model's makeup bold with certain features accented? Or natural, letting the skin do all the talking? How is hair styled? Sleek with a wet look? An ultra-low pony? And with everything working together, what's the feeling or overall mood set with the final result?

This year's AFW, which previews the fashion collections for Resort '26, gave us a handful of beauty looks we can use as inspiration for our own hair, skin and makeup for the season ahead. From wet hair looks and pixie cuts, to a bold lip with 'no makeup' makeup, these are the beauty looks that are easiest to replicate — and the most fun to recreate.

Pixie cuts were spotted on multiple runways, further solidifying our prediction that the cropped cut is going to be a big trend this summer. It's bold, low-maintenance and offers versatility in styling. You can opt for sleek, polished or textured.

Models at Bianca Spender's 'Deliquesce' collection preview rocked wet hair looks, created by the show's hair director John Pulitano. His inspiration was wet, textured hair from an ocean swim, using O&M Frizzy Logic Shine Serum and W-Spray to allow for movement and texture. "Something that looks effortless actually takes a great deal of work and preparation," says Pulitano. "We wanted the wet plunge look without it appearing slick or oily, creating beautiful architectural waves through the hair.

One of Australia's biggest international model exports, Jess Hart, slipped into Bianca Spender's show, wearing a dark lip . A model at Alix Higgins also wore a bold lip, hers painted with a brown metallic and the corners left untouched. Like with Hart's look, the rest of the makeup was kept natural so the focus could be on the lips.

Low Ponytails

A standout beauty look was the ultra-low ponytails at Byron Bay-based Nagnata's 'Return To Earth' show. For the looks, Chris Hunter, the show's hair director, prepped hair with a blow dry cream, before parting it based on the model's natural part.
"We wanted to create hair that was reminiscent of Nagnata's studio-to-street philosophy," says Hunter. "Texture with an effortless vibe, that Byron to Bondi cool girl hair."

It was a case of 'more is more' when it came to blush at several shows on the runways, including Karla Spetic, Nagnata and Ngali. Coral, rose and pink blush on many of the model's went from the cheeks to the temples.
