The celebrity: Carina Lau

The lipstick: Carina's Love; "When you think of China, you think of this pill-box, bright red. It signifies joy. She really wanted this specific red that we had mixed and worked on, on her. It's very velvety-matte, but has this electrifying red that comes through it."

Charlotte's inspiration: "I met Carina while doing her makeup for the cover of Vogue China and fell in love with her. She's got quite an amazing story. She got kidnapped and raped. I really look up to her after what she's been through and the way she carries herself with so much grace. She's empowered and she has so much strength and happiness, after going through something like that. She's like the Angelina Jolie of Asia, as well. She is such a wonderful spirit and a woman."

The celebrity: Emily Ratajkowski

The lipstick: Hot Emily

Charlotte's inspiration: "Sexiest woman on the planet. I always think of her as that sort of '70s, American, nothing comes between me and my Calvins sort of girl. A Charlie's Angels woman . . . I came up with this great 1970s retro neutral coral. It looks so fresh and gorgeous on her skin, even though it's a little bit of statement."

The celebrity: Kim Kardashian

The lipstick: Kim KW

Charlotte's inspiration: "She's so controversial. Listen, you love her or you hate her. I adore her. We've had such an amazing time together. She's been incredibly supportive of me. She's a beauty iconic of today. When I do her makeup, I think of people like Raquel Welch. She really reminds me of those amazing beauties of Italian films, or like Sophia Loren, or even a little bit of Audrey Hepburn.

"She's the queen of the nude lip. I think of her, and I think of the nude lip. It has this retro feel to it. It's so fab."

The celebrity: Liv Tyler

The lipstick: Liv It Up; "It's a pretty rosebud color."

Charlotte's inspiration: "When I think of Liv Tyler, I think of her heritage — being the daughter of rock gods, and at the same time, being this wonderful fairy in Lord of the Rings. She's in this juxtaposition world. She looks great either very fresh with the rosebud lip or with smoky eye and more rock 'n' roll. When I think of the colors I've done on her, [I picked one that] straddled her entire world."

The celebrity: Miranda Kerr

The lipstick: Miranda May

Charlotte's inspiration: "May is actually her middle name. Whenever I look at Miranda, she's got these gorgeous piercing blue eyes and this very fresh complexion. She wears lipstick in this fresh, glamorous way. It never looks too done.

"It's a coraly-pink that's a bit like the sunsets where she lives in Malibu, or Bondi Beach. It makes her piercing blue eyes really pop. When we met she was just like, 'Yes! That's it that's the one!'"

The celebrity: Cindy Crawford

The lipstick: Super Cindy

Charlotte's inspiration: "I'm sort of obsessed with her. She has always been one of my heroes. Those '90s supermodels and their beauty. She's got an all-American fresh face — gorgeous, healthy, sexy beauty. She always has that sort of tawny, nude lip that you always want. I obviously have a crush on her and look nothing like her. This lipstick color — taupe nude — was made ages ago, but it feels relevant again."

The celebrity: Laura Bailey

The lipstick: Tell Laura

Charlotte's inspiration: "It is a matte, geranium red. You can either put it on as a stain or really build it up and have that velvety [finish]. She's this very English Portobello girl. She's a writer, she's a model, and she's got this really eccentric, irreverent style. She's brilliant. She wears mad outfits, and that was a little bit of [the inspiration behind] Tell Laura.

The lipstick: Charlotte Tilbury Hel's Bells Lipstick

Charlotte's inspiration: "She is this brilliant British eccentric. She plays all these mad characters and she is like [them] in real life. She's very gothic eccentric, and crazy wonderful outfits with taft, lace, and net. Crazy colored lipsticks. She always [pulls] this complete madness like a witch off, but is stunning at the same time. This color is really such a magenta-mulberry color. When you put it on you look sort of stark and gothic, but it has this electric magenta that comes through it. It’s beautiful and surprising like she is. It’s very her."

The lipstick: Charlotte Tilbury Secret Salma Lipstick

Charlotte's inspiration: "This is a deep-rose, plum color. I love those Latinas who are very sensual and sexy, as well as that beautiful tan Latin skin. They’ve got this wonderful natural hue on their lip that I just find so sultry and Latin and gorgeous. It’s stealing some of that DNA — that sort of sultry lip — [in this color]. It's a really great color that looks fabulous on everyone."
