We Almost Didn't Recognize Irina Shayk With Her Permed Fauxhawk
Irina Shayk was practically incognito at the Prince's Trust Gala in New York City on April 27. The model showed up to the star-studded event with a permed fauxhawk that made her look like a totally different person. Her hair was slicked back on both sides with voluminous curls trailing down the center of her head and falling in front of her eyes, held in place by invisible pins. She showed off every angle of the edgy updo while posing on the red carpet wearing a lacy minidress, sheer tights, and green platform boots.
As for the rest of her beauty look for the evening, Shayk wore rosy lipstick and thick black Julia Fox-esque eyeliner that extended into a sharp wing. She completed the ensemble with a muted "supermodel manicure," which was quite the fitting choice for the runway regular.
Perms have made a comeback in recent years, but thankfully, the hair treatment is a lot safer to get nowadays than back when Sandy rocked her signature curls on "Grease." Shayk's take on the hairstyle comes with tight ringlets, whereas some opt for "body wave" perms, a looser curl treatment that creates beachy waves, or "pin-curl" perms, which use curlers and pins to create more of a bouncy appearance.
Though Shayk typically wears her brown hair straight like she most recently did for weekend one of Coachella, the mother of one isn't afraid to experiment with her look. At Rihanna's fourth Savage X Fenty Show in November, she walked the runway with bleached eyebrows, and she also debuted a fresh, '90s-style pixie cut at the 2021 Met Gala.
