Jennifer Lopez's "Mochi" Nails Only Cost $13
As people who've been closely following all of Jennifer Lopez's beauty and style moments for the last three decades, we have to give thanks to social media. It's now easier than ever to get a behind-the-scenes look at what the star is wearing, whether it's for award shows, movie premieres, or a European vacation with her husband, Ben Affleck. Case in point: we know exactly what nail-polish shade Lopez wore for the star-studded 2023 LACMA Art+Film Gala on Nov. 4, thanks to her manicurist.
Tom Bachik has been responsible for creating the singer's (plus Selena Gomez's, Margot Robbie's, and other A-listers') manicures for years. On Sunday, he shared Lopez's final gala look, which featured a sparkly Gucci gown, complete with cutouts and a floor-length, sheer, sequin-embroidered skirt. In an Instagram caption, he revealed he used the PLA Gel Polish in Love You Mochi ($13), which is a neutral mauve tone, for her nails. "JLo set the night on fire," Bachik said. "The color was inspired by the highlights in the sparkle of the gown."
For the unfamiliar, mochi is a Japanese dough often used in dessert. It is typically light in color and has a creamy glaze. Lopez's nails were free of any additional designs or sparkles, allowing the soft color to take center stage against her monochromatic champagne clutch. Minimalist manicures have been trending for the larger part of the 2020s, with the COVID-19 pandemic setting the less-is-more trend in motion. Though the "The Mother" actor dabbles in different styles, she has definitely jumped aboard the trend and can often be found in "supermodel" or milk-bath nail trends.
PLA, the polish brand Bachik used on the star, is a professional-level line founded by manicurist Michelle Nguyen. The rest of Lopez's glam was done by celebrity makeup artist Scott Barnes and celebrity hairstylist Lorenzo Martin.
Lopez's entire look from head to toe screamed glamour. Take a look for yourself below.
