To achieve the distinctly defined shape of the straight brow, Roberts suggested using the new Fluidline Brow Gelcreme ($17, available in three shades). This waterproof product is highly blendable and dries quickly for a smudge-proof finish. "It gives a really precise definition so you can kind of make that line appear straighter underneath," he said.
If this is your first time using a formula in a pot, do not be alarmed. While this may seem like more of a pro product, Roberts insists that the key to mastery is not your technique, but what you use to apply it.
"The problem most women have when using a gel is that the brush is too flimsy and tends to go all over the place," he said. The 266 Small Angle Brush ($20) was created with this issue in mind, and has short, stiff bristles that allow for supermeticulous application.
"It's almost like taking a pen to paper," added Roberts. He advised that when filling in brows with gel, one should start at the front and work towards the arch in short, feathered strokes.
