A friend of mine once referred to me as a "beauty historian," and this was an incredibly apt description. I have been hoarding cosmetics since my early teen years and have kept the majority of my collection in pristine condition, packaging included. In fact, there are some products that I treasure so much that I can't even bring myself to use them.

Urban Decay is possibly my favorite beauty brand of all time, and I have sung its praises in countless essays for POPSUGAR. I proudly locked down the AOL Instant Messenger user name of "urbandecayjunkie" in middle school, and from that point onward, my obsession spiraled out of control. I've tracked down dozens of discontinued items on eBay and spent carefully saved money on the company's new launches over the years. Now that I'm a beauty editor, I get to know about Urban Decay's upcoming products ahead of time, so I'm basically living out my teenage fantasies.

In a humble ode to the brand, I pulled some of my favorite products from my stash in hopes that other Urban Decay junkies would reminisce along with me. Unfortunately, I couldn't find my beloved Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in Pyrotechnics (an iridescent sparklefest of a liquid liner) or Pocket Rocket gloss in Timothy (featuring a graham-cracker-like scent in the tube and a lenticular print of an undressed preppie hottie on the outside). There are definitely some oldies-but-goodies in here, though: all of these products are from around 2004 or earlier. Read on and take a trip down memory lane!

Urban Decay Lip Gunk

Urban Decay Lip Gunk

Lip Gunk was my first Urban Decay product. Thus, it has a special place in my heart and will forever be my favorite item (with the Face Cases on the next slide coming in at a close second). Each color featured a different delectable scent and a pleasantly sweet taste. Even better, the formulas were intensely pigmented! I found myself collecting shades that looked terrible on me — like that bronze shade there — just because they smelled so tasty.

Urban Decay Face Case, Lip Arsenal, and Lipstick Compact

Urban Decay Face Case, Lip Arsenal, and Lipstick Compact

Please note that both the tiny lipstick compact and the gloss arsenal are completely unused — I found them too pretty as is to touch! I have nearly all of the Face Cases (upper left) that Urban Decay produced but didn't want to risk harming them in transit, so "Bad Girl" is the only one shown. In eighth grade, I wore that teal eye shadow with abandon (and a matching polo shirt).

Thankfully, Urban Decay hasn't discontinued its wonderfully pigmented shadows, but I wanted to share all the brand's iterations of its packaging with you. The top center product is the original shadow cap from 20 years ago (inspired by a subway token), and the lower right one is what they look like today. Pretty sweet upgrade!

Urban Decay Body Haze in Vapor

Urban Decay Body Haze in Vapor

Urban Decay sold strobing products before strobing even existed. I bought this chubby highlighting stick on eBay. In case you can't track down your own, know that it's very similar to Nars The Multiple in Copacabana ($39).

Urban Decay Sparkling Lickable Body Powder

Urban Decay Sparkling Lickable Body Powder

I was a late bloomer when it came to the relationship front and thus had no business owning a scented, flavored body shimmer in my midteen years. Regardless, I had many of them. I snapped up Cake and Red Hot (a cinnamon flavor) from a magazine internship's beauty closet. I then grabbed Gingersnap, Cocoa, and Peppermint after the product had been discontinued from my local Marshalls. If anyone ever wants to send me their old box of Marshmallow powder (as seen in the movie Mean Girls), please reach out!

Urban Decay Split Lipstick in Pleasure and Pain

Urban Decay Split Lipstick in Pleasure and Pain

These were so cool! It's hard to tell from this image, but one side is a frosty gilded pink and the other is a bronzed rose. Two shades in one tube, so lipstick hoarders could cut down on beauty bag bulk — or have options even when limited to a tiny clutch.

Urban Decay Glitter Stick

Urban Decay Glitter Stick

This product was just a balm loaded up with glitter that you could apply anywhere on your body. It was chicer than sparkling body gel and way more portable, too, as the tube is the same size as a Chapstick.

Urban Decay Lube in a Tube Soothing Lip Balm in NYC

Urban Decay Lube in a Tube Soothing Lip Balm in NYC

I had to have this because I am a pale brunette from New York City, just like the cartoon immortalized on this tube. It was mentholated and had a sheer, flattering plummy tint. You could also find this product in Miami, Los Angeles, and Chicago variations.

Urban Decay XXX Slick Pot Gloss

Urban Decay XXX Slick Pot Gloss

Just like Lip Gunk, this formula was scented and flavored. It's hard to tell, but the tiny tasseled pots are actually miniature versions of the original — they came in a gift set and are each slightly larger than a quarter. The only drawback? They melted easily. I had a tragic accident one afternoon when I left my favorite coconut-flavored shade in a hot car . . .

Urban Decay Cream Eye Shadow

Urban Decay Cream Eye Shadow

These are the only cream shadows I've ever truly loved. Cream lived up to its longwear claims and exceeded my wildest expectations. I rocked the shades in sweltering heat on one Summer's day and experienced no creasing or fading, even after 12 hours. I have a theory that this formula was what inspired the iconic Primer Potion — the two products apply and wear similarly.

Urban Decay Blow Lip Plumper

Urban Decay Blow Lip Plumper

This ultracooling, plumping gloss was inspired by cocaine (naughty, Urban Decay) and boasted a numbing sensation after application. It also featured a soft pink-beige shade, unusual for lip plumpers from this time frame — most were clear.

I'm fairly certain I never used this set, either, which is why it looks like it was ripped from some kind of beauty museum's shelf. These are the shiniest glosses I've ever tried and were like vinyl for lips. Instead of being flavored, every shade was minty, making your breath ultrafresh. I have a full-size tube of Carney and used it religiously back in the day.
