What to ask for at the salon: "Ask your hairdresser to texturize your hair and clean up the ends but remove as little length as possible," Reyman offered. "The texturizing will free up your hair to really express itself — as opposed to leaving hair heavy so that it weighs down. Texturizing will allow room for more natural curl lighten the hair for easier lift and movement."
At-home styling tip: According to Reyman, try a combination of oil and hold products to get the best results. "I love the less defined, more unruly curls and texture we have seen from Beyoncé, Juno Temple, and a bunch on the runway," he added.
