Eye Shadow Jelly Is the Squishy Summer Beauty Trend You Need to Try

If you've ever attempted to re-create the wet-look shadow creations of the New York Fashion Week runways, you know that one word best describes the style: sticky. Usually, makeup artists backstage apply a thick layer of clear lip gloss or even Vaseline to models in order to achieve that reflective appearance. That's fine for a quick moment on the catwalk, but DIYing it is something else entirely. There are few things more unsettling than feeling your eyelid fuse to your brow bone, then suddenly drop back into place after every blink. Even worse, dust and other particles can get caught on your tacky, gummy lids.

We had largely given up on trying out a glassy, smoldering eye until Butter London's new Glazen Eye Gloss ($24) came along. The innovative texture feels like a squishy, moist gel when you apply it (we like using a finger because we're lazy!), but it dries to a more powdery yet supershiny finish. You can apply them sheerly or load on a bunch of shimmer without fear of creasing, and they provide awesome dimension when used as a base for your favorite powder shadows.

So far, they're available in four shades that range from soft beige and seashell pink to a sultry bronze and a multichromatic "oil slick" hue. Read on to see them all and get excited: you can finally test out that high-shine, high-fashion style without feeling like your eyelids are tiny little fly traps.
