In general, beauty editors go all out on Halloween. It's an excuse for us break out the false lashes, pigmented glitter, and other fun tools we have in our stashes. In fact, one POPSUGAR editor loves it so much, she generally dresses up three nights in a row. It's the time of year to let your makeup freak flag fly, and we're into it.

Since we usually get to try and see so many products due to our jobs, we wanted to share the ones we're planning on using this year. Keep reading to discover vampy lipsticks, star-studded eyelashes, and no-fail contour kits.

Black Star False Eyelashes

"My Halloween costumes are usually some sort of pop star, and this year, I could see myself paying homage to the late David Bowie with these Black Star False Eyelashes ($5). The faux flutter is also a cute way to dress up for an office party without wearing anything extreme." — Lauren Levinson, senior editor, Beauty

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Kale

"Ever since this formula launched earlier this year, I have been obsessing over all of the color options, especially orange-red Persimmon and navy Squid Ink. But when I discovered this hunter-green hue ($26), I was smitten. I don't generally need an excuse to wear an unusual lipstick shade to work, but Halloween is definitely a solid one. Bonus: its blue undertones make my teeth look superwhite." — Emily Orofino, editor, Beauty

MAC Cosmetics Liptensity in Stallion

"I decorate for Halloween the last week of September so I can maximize the time the creepy decor is up in my apartment. Therefore, I also bust out the black lipstick around this time. We've written about how great MAC Cosmetics Liptensity ($21 each) is, and in addition to having gorgeous nudes and reds to play with, I'm super stoked about Stallion, a onyx black that you can layer for an opaque look or swipe one coat on to take down the natural rosiness of your lips." — Kirbie Johnson, host and producer of Beauty Junkie and Pretty Unfiltered

"My Kat Von D Shade and Light Palette ($46) is a Halloween not-so-secret weapon; using it, I can shape my face into almost anybody else. Need a crooked nose? No problem! Want to achieve the illusion of a heart-shaped face? This palette has gotchu. I swear by this glorious palette for Halloween and far beyond, but it'll come especially handy this year for my Jason Momoa (as Aquaman) costume." — Brinton Parker, assistant editor, Trending

Pick up the white Milk and the black shade, Black Bean, and you have everything you need to morph into anything from a skeleton to panda." — Sarah Siegel, editorial assistant, Trending

Anastasia Beverly Hills Moonchild Glow Kit

"Now that the brand has announced that this kit ($40) is a permanent member of its highlighter lineup, you have no excuse: this needs to be added to your kit ASAP. Its unicorn-like colors are versatile enough for everyday use, but you better believe I'm busting this out for Halloween. Instead of restricting myself to lightly applying one or two colors, I'll be heavily packing on all of them — especially the iridescent Blue Ice shade — to achieve an otherworldly glow." — EO

LA Splash Dia de los Muertos Collection

LA Splash Dia de los Muertos Collection

"These metallic matte lippies come in a coffin-inspired case if you buy them all together ($84), but they're just as spooky-beautiful on their own ($16 each). Whether you're in the market for a pumpkin-hued lip or want an alien green-brown shimmer, these unique shades are durable enough to last all Halloween night long and are adaptable for any costume. I can't get enough of my La Bella Muerte liquid lipstick in particular!" — BP

Urban Decay Electric Pressed Pigment Palette

"The colors in the Urban Decay Electric Pressed Pigment Palette ($24, originally $49) are some of the most vibrant shades of makeup I own. This year, I intend to carry this palette with me to parties when I inevitably craft my friends' Halloween looks because it can be used on the eyes, cheeks, or lips. Personally, I'll be pressing a makeup sponge into the pigments and creating a gradient effect on my face for either a unicorn, a mermaid, or a Lisa Frank-inspired costume (I can't decide!)." — SS

Ciaté London Chisel Eye Liner

"When it comes to precise, detailed liner — or even a cute deer nose — my go-to is Ciaté London Chisel Liner High Definition Tip Eyeliner ($20). It works so well that getting a sharp wing is practically fail-proof. Plus, I've had it for several months now and it refuses to dry up!" — KJ

China Glaze Nail Lacquer in Lubu Heels

"I admittedly don't go as hard on Halloween as I used to, but I make sure my nails are always on point for the spooky holiday. This particular color ($8) is one of my favorites around this time of year. The red sparkles are toned down by the rich black base, making for a glittery but not gaudy manicure that's perfect for Fall." — EO

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Makeup

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Makeup

"IT Cosmetics has a great range of Bye Bye products: Bye Bye Under Eye, Bye Bye Pores . . . bye-bye, money. (Just kidding.) So when Bye Bye Makeup 3-in-1 Makeup Melting Cleansing Balm ($38) launched, I knew it was going to be a fast favorite. This three-in-one cleansing balm removes excessive amounts of makeup with minimal product. But unlike other balms, it doesn't leave your skin with a greasy film. Instead, it's softer, refreshed, and ready for a good night's rest." — KJ

DUO Brush-On Lash Adhesive

"Faux lashes are a must for Halloween, in my humble opinion. My favorite lash glue is super easy to apply. DUO Brush-On Lash Adhesive ($7) comes with a wand so you can add the perfect amount of glue and not risk getting a huge glob of it on the lash itself. It's also a great way to adhere dried flowers or sequins to the skin." — KJ
