Every now and then while slipping into the rabbit hole that is my Instagram feed, I come across a product so freaking beautiful that I instantly fall slave to its coolness. Naturally I make sure to get my hands on the item before singing any public praises (as any good beauty editor would); but admittedly, it is often the sheer beauty that steals my heart. That is what happened with this lineup of drool-worthy brushes.

Makeup brushes by definition are pretty darn beautiful, but this 'gram-worthy lineup takes the crown and does one hell of a job applying a stunning face of makeup, too. So in an attempt to save you from hours of endless scrolling, here are the coolest and most beautiful makeup brushes you have ever seen!

Storybook Cosmetics Harry Potter Makeup Brushes

Storybook Cosmetics Harry Potter Makeup Brushes

They’re the makeup brushes that sent muggles into total freakout mode when they caught word of the launch earlier this Fall. For the record, these Harry Potter wand-inspired brushes aren’t actually magical brushes; and I may have given my best “Wingardium Leviosa” spell just to confirm that, for research purposes, of course. While this set is completely sold out, there are still some equally as mystical creations in the works from this clever brand. Expect another batch of wizarding wand-inspired brushes (plus a quill-inspired eyeliner that is oh-so-dreamy) and the potential for lightsaber brushes in 2017.

Good makeup brushes are an investment. Or at least they used to be before the launch of this luxe-looking collection from e.l.f. Cosmetics. The Instagram-worthy design was inspired by modern minimalist home decor and is every bit fit for the fanciest marble countertop or vanity. The triangular handle is ergonomically designed to sit comfortably in your hand and the white, cruelty-free bristles strategically help you see the placement of product on the brush before you apply it all over your face. The softness rivals that of the fanciest makeup brushes on the market, except you can get the entire nine-piece brush e.l.f. collection for the price of one (or buy them individually for between $5 and $12 each).

Artis Elite Gold Palm Brush

Artis Elite Gold Palm Brush

This chic tool looks like the golden snitch of makeup brushes — or maybe that’s just my mind stuck in the wizarding world! Either way, it’s cool looking and unlike any other makeup brush you have ever seen or used. The handle is entirely nonexistent. Instead, it’s designed to fit comfortably in the palm of your hand, with a rubbery grip band and finger indent to give you maximum control and stability during makeup application. The large oval brush head is tightly packed with supersoft synthetic fibers that can used to apply liquid, cream, and powder formulas over your face and body.

Spectrum Collection The Bombshell, Pearly Queen

It’s as if these makeup brushes were stolen right off of Ariel’s vanity. The stunning metallic shell makeup bag (which also happens to double as a purse) is fitting for both mermaid-obsessed beauty lovers and someone in the need of gorgeous high-quality brushes.

The combination of hot-pink tips, rose gold metal accents, and soft-pink handles are total Elle Woods-status and will make you feel feminine with every swipe. Looks aside, the vegan, cruelty-free brushes are also PETA registered. So they don’t just feel magical dusted all over your face, but they help you to keep a clean conscious, too.

Spectrum Collection 12-Piece Siren Brush Set

Spectrum Collection 12-Piece Siren Brush Set

The brushes from this UK brand are too good to choose just one. So we didn’t. The striking black-and-teal holographic collection is truly unique. As in every single brush is hand-finished, so no two sets are exactly the same. They all show a different wash of electric blue, green, purple, pink, and orange tones that make each one striking.

This superstocked set features 12 of the brand's most popular brushes, so there’s likely a one in there that can help you do just about any makeup maneuver imaginable. Expect an angled powder brush for sculpting, tapered blender brush to fit neatly in the crease and around the eyes, and a lip liner brush for the perfect longwear lip look.

The Original Unicorn Lashes Brush

The Original Unicorn Lashes Brush

I’ve never actually pet a unicorn before, but if I ever got the chance to (kidding, not kidding), I would imagine their coat to feel something of a cross between a cashmere blanket and a chinchilla. In other words really effing soft, like the rainbow bristles on these sold-out unicorn-inspired brushes. The twisted cone-shaped handles and shimmering iridescent finish are reminiscent of the magical creature’s iconic horn and help your makeup application to feel a little extra special. Cheeky brush names — like Fleeky Brows brow brush, Whisp Me Away powder brush, and Blending is my Cardio blending shadow brush — will make you smile. Zip up all of your brushes in the diamond-shaped bag for safe keeping.

Sonia Kashuk Serpent Holiday Brush Set

Sonia Kashuk Serpent Holiday Brush Set

In a beauty world overcome by unicorn- and mermaid-inspired everything, here’s an edgier makeup tool set that speaks to the darker goth queen in all of us. The vampy snake-embellished brush set is every bit as badass as it sounds. It’s the brush set you would envision on the vanity of Snow White’s Wicked Queen. There are three larger face brushes (both densely and loosely bound) to chisel and sculpt cheekbones a la Charlize Theron, along with five different shadow brushes to blend, buff, and smudge a smoldering smoky eye. The coolest part: the entire 10-piece set is less than $40 bucks.

It Cosmetics Heavenly Skin Brushes

Here’s a brilliant idea that came to life with the help of some plastic surgeons. The individual hairs of these brushes are infused with a cocktail of anti-agers like collagen, silk, peptides, and niacin. So you can benefit from an added dose of antioxidants every time you apply your makeup. Genius! It doesn’t exactly buff away fine lines for good, but between the brush and some Dolce & Gabbana foundation, my skin looked pretty darn smooth.

The white fluffy bristles remind me of a bunny’s tail and feel equally as soft when dusting over your face (don’t worry, they’re cruelty- and animal-free). They won’t stay white for long, but the pretty, crisp color definitely gives you added incentive to keep them clean.

Shaquda Scene 04 Makeup Brush Set

There’s no other way around it: this line of Japanese handmade animal-hair brushes is simply gorgeous. There’s something immediately calming about the simplistic design with walnut wood handles and a mix of squirrel-, goat-, and weasel-hair brush heads. The natural bristles aren’t the softest of the bunch, but what they lack in satisfying fluff-appeal they more than make up for with their polished application. The slightly thicker bristles don’t soak up product the way so many other makeup brushes do, and the hairs buff and blend better than most, leaving your face with a natural flawless finish.

Beau Belle Rose Gold Makeup Brushes

Beau Belle Rose Gold Makeup Brushes

For starters it’s rose gold, which automatically makes it prettier, cooler, and more glamorous that basic brush sets. It’s specially designed with a dent in the handle that helps you get a better grip on the brush and with it, more control over all that dusting, strobing, and blending. The lineup includes everything you need for one seriously polished complexion including powder, stippling, foundation, and setting brushes. The synthetic fibers feel soft and cozy when fluffed over your face, and those dazzling rose gold handles sure look damn good resting on your vanity.

Too Faced Teddy Bear Hair Brush Set

Too Faced Teddy Bear Hair Brush Set

This cruelty-free vegan brush set will make you squeal with cuteness for many reasons. The name alone is enough to tug on the heart strings of the devil himself (I mean Teddy Bear hair — does it get any cuter?). Then there’s the pretty pink-and-gold handles, which make you feel all cutesy every time you pick them up. The soft, fluffy bristles do their job just as well as any fancy pancy designer brush, and you can rest easy knowing not a single animal was harmed in the production process. Added bonus: an adorable heart-printed carrying case that helps you zip up all this cuteness and take with you wherever you go.
