Do I even need to talk about how good Tom Ford scents are? I don't, you're right. This scent just as good as all of his fragrances in the form of a shower gel, so he'll have fragrant skin to layer another cologne on top of.

Want know a secret? Men love the smell of wood. And I mean LOVE. The heavier the wood note in your fragrance, they crazier they get. As you can see, there is something in this shower gel for everyone.

If you're thinking that this is the most rudimentary beauty product that I could include in a men's guide, you're right. But in the last month, both my boyfriend and my boss — two of the most important men in my life — have sung the praises of this L'Occitane hand cream to me. So I took it as a sign. And it really is that good. It's super rich and hydrating without being greasy or too heavily fragranced, and the tube is great because you can use it until the very last little bit of it is gone. Oh, and it's LOX-EE-TAN.

Boy Smells is a brand that speaks for itself. The scents are more sophisticated than the ones that remind you of your grandma's bathroom or other "men's scents" that just smell like stale aftershave. Plus, they look pretty and clean, like a Byredo bottle or a Herbivore jar. Beauty products that double as home decor are very essential.

Drybar's new Whiskey Fix Styling Paste is another product that you can give to him, then steal from him. It adds texture and volume to long hair when applied at the root, and is the perfect styling product for flexible hold on short hair. Most dudes love whiskey, and if they don't, they love to pretend they do, so chances are he'll love this product on principle.

The past few years have brought us new innovations in buying fragrances online. Choosing a scent in a department store is hard enough, but a few brands have come up with ways to pair you with a scent remotely. Hawthorne For Men is one of the more recent companies to do so.

I was as skeptical as I was curious about this, but it had three master perfumers including Olivier Gillotin (Ralph Lauren Notorious, Dior Higher), Rodrigo Flores-Roux (Clinique Happy, Tom Ford), and Quentin Bisch (Missoni, Thierry Mugler Angel Muse) behind it, so I decided to test it. Plus, Flores-Roux created the first John Varvatos scent I ever fell madly in love with and still wear to this day! I had a good feeling I'd land on something that suited me.

Your guy simply has to answer a few questions (I love a survey) about his body chemistry, diet, preferences, and lifestyle. He is then paired with two scents — one for work and one for play. He'll know which is which, because they're called "Work" and "Play."

The scents I was paired with are interesting and exquisite, and when it comes to fragrances, I'm not easy to please.
