When Natalie Portman took the red carpet at the 2017 SAG Awards, we couldn't take our eyes off her effortlessly chic gown. But a closer look revealed that her makeup looked utterly flawless, and we couldn't resist finding our how she landed such a glowing look.

It turns out the secret to the actress's radiant makeup was a silicone applicator called MakeupDrop. Silicone beauty sponges like the Silisponge and its glittery counterpart, Evie Blender, are taking the makeup world by storm, and we're hardcore advocates. These nifty tools seamlessly apply foundation without absorbing any of the product like regular sponges do, so you can use, clean, and reuse the tool in a matter of seconds.

This is the first time we've heard of this unique tool being used to prep celebrities for the red carpet, which just gives us more proof that they're deserving of all the praise they get. To achieve Natalie's perfectly blended look, makeup artist Pati Dubroff started with a light primer and used the MakeupDrop ($20) to apply two different shades of foundation — a lighter one on the center of Natalie's face and a darker shade on her cheeks. Then Dubroff used the droplet-shaped silicone blender to smooth on a rose-hued cream blush to the apples of her cheeks, blending outward. The results were picture-perfect, and we can't wait to steal Dubroff's tactic for our everyday routine.
