"Putting hairspray on the bottom of your shoes so you don't slip is an awesome pageant trick that a lot of girls use," says Ashley Hamby, Miss Mississippi. "I was a dancer, so I did that a lot when I was dancing. And I use the trick for my pageant competitions, too."
