This wouldn't be a complete guide without including the ultimate crowd-pleaser, this Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Vampira ($20). Of course, Lolita is a popular shade, but I love Vampira because it's dark, mysterious, and just a little more festive than that beloved chestnut pink.

Lipstick Queen Altered Universe ($22) is another superior gloss: it contains pearlescent flecks that refract light like a cosmic dream, and it keeps doing so all damn night.
