This Skincare Campaign Wasn't Photoshopped — and the Gorgeous Results Will Floor You

Retouching, once strictly a photographer's tool that was reserved for glossy, star-studded advertisements, has trickled down to impact just about every one of us. There's a laundry list of selfie-editing apps available at the touch of a button, and it's damn near impossible to scroll through Instagram without seeing some kind of Facetuning or filtering. While we have nothing against the practice (get those "likes," girl), seeing fake perfection all over our screens can get a little intimidating. One beauty campaign aims to change that with a completely unretouched series of ads starring models of varying skin tones, shapes, and ages.

Luxury skincare brand Babor enlisted the help of the All Woman Project, a nonprofit organization aimed at empowering girls around the world, for its latest photo shoot. The gorgeous result is a skincare campaign that feels refreshingly relatable. Some of the models who grace these images have gray hair. Others rock freckles, and a few more have thick, undone brows. It's crucial that those little details, which are so often simply airbrushed away, are on full display in this ad.

The shoot's cast includes Charli Howard and Clémentine Desseaux, who cofounded the All Woman Project. Models such as Denise Bidot, Nykhor-Nyakueinyang Paul, and Nicola Griffin were also enlisted to help. But it's not just women who pose for photos for a living in the lineup. Glamour editor Lauren Chan, Muse Models vice president Becca Thorpe, Anne Klein, and creative director Sharon Lombardo rounded out the gorgeous group.

This campaign is timed to the release of the AWPxBABOR Beauty Ampoule Set ($40), seven single-dose concentrated serums that hydrate dry skin. Three of the ampoules are intended for nighttime use. Salix nigra bark, algae extract, and black truffle make up the antiaging serum, which works to firm and tighten skin while you sleep. Fifty percent of the proceeds will go to the All Woman Project, which uses funds to set up classes and workshops about body positivity and female empowerment in schools across the country.

One thing you shouldn't sleep on? The breathtaking campaign images. Read on to see this celebration of self-love and wellness for yourself.
