9 Miraculous Beauty Treatments Worth Trying in 2019

For those of us who follow beauty trends closer than important life events of our loved ones, it seems like there's a crazy new treatment or product popping up on Instagram and YouTube every other day. From magnetic eyelashes to "penis facials," there's no end to the imaginations of the people who come up with every viral beauty trend. But knowing which ones are actually worth the hype is the tricky part. A lot of beauty treatments can be expensive, or they might be all flash with no real results. Luckily for you, I've rounded up a few of my favorite beauty treatments and products that pretty much anyone can — and should — try in 2019. Read on for my recommendations, and here's to looking #flawless in the new year.

01
At-Home Microneedling
BeautyBio | Sephora

At-Home Microneedling

Though microneedling sounds like it might be terrifying — especially if you hate needles — it's actually a relatively painless treatment that helps regenerate skin cells quicker, and also allows your skincare products to penetrate deeper into the skin.

While spa or medi-spa microneedling treatments can run you up to $700 per session, this BeautyBio GloPro Microneedling Facial Regeneration Tool is only $199 and reusable as long as you replace the batteries. The head of the tool is also detachable, so you can try out the brand's other attachments. They have a bigger one for your body, a smaller one for your eye area, and a padded one for your lips.

Facial Peels — Both at Home and at the Spa
Drunk Elephant | Sephora

Facial Peels — Both at Home and at the Spa

Face peels are nothing new; spas have been offering them as add-ons to facials for forever. In the past year or so, beauty lovers have been looking for alternative peels that don't leave skin irritated, but still have a high acid concentration to slough off the top layer of your skin.

Next time you get a facial, ask your esthetician what kind of peel will work best for you, since each of them have different functions. Glycolic peels penetrate the deepest and work best for aging skin, lactic peels are derived from milk and are great for drier skin types, and beta peels work great for acne.

If you're looking for an at-home treatment that gives you spa-like results, try out Drunk Elephant's T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial ($80). It's made with a whopping 25 percent AHA and 2 percent BHA blend of glycolic, tartaric, lactic, citric, and salicylic acids to reveal fresh, baby-like skin. If you have sensitive skin, this might not be the product for you, but the formula does include soothing ingredients, like matcha tea, milk thistle, and apple, to help counteract the effects of the acids.

24K Gold Treatments
Peter Thomas Roth | Sephora

24K Gold Treatments

When you hear the words 24-karat gold, you automatically think luxury. And while beauty products made with the ingredient seem glitzy, the results will make your skin sing. According to Dr. Paul Jarrod Frank, an N.Y.C.-based cosmetic dermatologist, "Gold is used as an anti-aging ingredient, as it can help reduce inflammation, which is a cause of acne and hyper pigmentation. When applied topically, it also helps brighten the skin."

If you're looking for ways to incorporate 24-karat gold into your beauty routine, one of my all-time favorite products is Peter Thomas Roth's 24K Gold Pure Luxury Lift & Firm Hydra-Gel Eye Patches ($75); they make me look like I've gotten 10 hours of sleep after wearing them for just 25 minutes. I'm also a huge fan of Tatcha's Gold Camellia Beauty Oil ($95), which you can use anywhere on your body, from your hair to your cuticles. (Technically this one is only 23 karats, but I'll count it anyway.) You can also try out Jillian Dempsey's Gold Sculpting Bar ($195), which is plated in 24-karat gold to help carve out the contours in your face.

And if you're looking for the ultimate superstar treatment, Joanna Vargas (whose hands have graced the faces of people like Mandy Moore, Mindy Kaling, Emily Ratajkowski, and more), offers the Super Nova Facial at her NYC and LA salons. The hour-long facial covers your skin in a gold gel mask to help the skin retain moisture.

04
Foot Peels
Baby Foot | Ulta

Foot Peels

Foot peels definitely aren't for the faint of heart. (Just search #BabyFootPeel on Instagram to see what I mean.) But if you've struggled to get your feet feeling soft, even with regular pedicures, the Baby Foot Original Exfoliant Foot Peel ($25) is definitely worth a try. It uses 17 types of natural extracts to help simultaneously exfoliate and moisturize the skin on your feet. Wait a few days after using the peel to see the results — you might want to wear socks around the house while your feet are peeling.

05
Charcoal Teeth Whitening
Blaq

Charcoal Teeth Whitening

Between coffee, tea, red wine, and soda, we all ingest a lot of things that make our teeth a little less sparkly. But traditional teeth whitening treatments are very expensive if you get them done professionally, and sometimes, the at-home treatments are painful for people with sensitive gums. In the past year or so, people have found an alternative with charcoal teeth whitening treatments.

Charcoal is a great ingredient for teeth whitening because it's gentler, it effectively kills bacteria that can cause bad breath, and activated charcoal naturally lifts stains without eroding the enamel on your teeth. My personal favorite charcoal teeth whitening products are from Blaq's line: the Teeth Whitening Wand ($17) is great for on-the-go, the Whitening Toothpaste Dual Pack ($16) can be used multiple times a day, and you can use the Teeth Whitening Powder Dual Pack ($16) when your teeth need a little extra love.

06
Facial Sculpting
Skin Gym

Facial Sculpting

You've probably seen those viral videos of people getting facials that include intense massages to sculpt out their cheekbones and jawline. While those facials can definitely yield some killer results, you can also try sculpting out your face at home.

Skin Gym offers a ton of facial massaging tools that can help you get some killer cheekbones. Their Jade Gua Sha Tool ($32) works to release facial tension, while their Goldie Face Roller ($68) is textured to intensely massage your face while also pushing skincare products further into the skin. And for the Rolls Royce of all facial sculptors, check out MDNA Skin's Beauty Roller ($200). It's approved by Madge herself, and helps carve out your cheekbones and jawline while also encouraging lymphatic drainage.

07
Lash Lifting & Tinting
Kristin Corpuz | POPSUGAR

Lash Lifting & Tinting

If you're looking to ditch false eyelashes or lash extensions in the new year, but still want your lashes to have a little oomph, try out lash lifting and tinting. Lash lifting is essentially a perm for your eyelashes so you don't have to use a lash curler when you're putting mascara on, and it typically lasts for about six weeks. It's a great treatment if your eyelashes point straight out or curl down. A frequent add-on to lash lifting is lash tinting, which uses a natural dye to make your lashes appear darker; it lasts for about the same amount of time.

I got my lashes lifted and tinted for the first time last year (at Lash Lift NYC & Microblading, for those of you who are in the NYC area), and my life has never been the same. I felt more comfortable leaving the house without makeup on because it felt like part of me was "done." It also made my naturally thin and straight eyelashes look fuller and longer, and I didn't have to curl my lashes to do my makeup. Plus, it's cheaper than keeping up with lash extensions.

08
Sleeping Masks
Glamglow | Sephora

Sleeping Masks

Sleeping masks had a huge year in 2018 (it seemed like every brand was coming out with one), but if you haven't hopped on the trend, this year is definitely the time to try them out. Skin care works best while you're sleeping because that's when your skin is naturally regenerating, so it makes sense that intensely moisturizing treatments should be applied at nighttime.

A couple of my recent favorites are Glamglow's new Good In Bed Night Cream ($54), which uses passionfruit and hyaluronic acid to gently exfoliate and nourish the skin, and Glow Recipe's Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask ($45), which contains 74 percent avocado in various forms to deeply hydrate the skin overnight.

09
Facial Steaming
Conair | Target

Facial Steaming

For people who frequently get facials, facial steaming probably isn't new. Steam helps open up your pores for a deeper cleanse, and also helps make extractions a bit easier by loosening up whatever is clogging your pores. The heat also helps skincare products sink a little deeper into the skin. If you don't get facials that often, but are looking for more spa-like results with your at-home skincare, invest in a facial steamer.

The True Glow by Conair Warm Steam Facial Sauna ($25) comes with a wider attachment so you can steam your whole face, and the narrow attachment is great when you want to inhale steam to clear out your sinuses. My pro tip is to drop in a little bit of peppermint or tea tree oil while you steam to help open up your nasal cavities and release any congestion while you steam.
