I Copied 3 of Kylie Jenner's Makeup Looks, and Boy Was It Hard

Kylie Jenner has become one of the biggest names in beauty, so I was curious how her full-face glam look would translate to my not-so-glamorous life. I chose three of her recent looks and decided to wear them to work to see how practical they really are and how they would fit in with my everyday routine.

Check out the results, ahead.

Day 1: Hot Pink Lids

Day one was rougher than I expected. Not only did it take a long time to shuffle through my drawer and find the perfect hot pink for my inner corners, but I couldn't find small enough of a brush to really get that pink shade into the correct spot. I ended up using a pink from the Sephora Pro Editorial Palette ($68), which I think was close enough of a match.

As soon as I got to work, I was asked to test out the new KKW Beauty red lipstick. Before I was able to snap a photo of my look, it was already drastically altered. When trying out this trend, I do suggest keeping your lips neutral, because I think I look more like a Valentine than a Jenner here.

Day 2: Nude All Over

While I would never reach for this cool-tone color palette ordinarily, I was excited to try something different. By combining shades in the Urban Decay Backtalk Palette ($46) and Naked Basics Palette ($29), I was able to replicate her look.

Surprisingly, I ended up really liking the muted hues and think it looks pretty. Jenner seems to take her crease color really high up, almost hitting her brow bone. Although I have a lot of space between my crease and eyebrow, I did my best to bring it up higher than normal. I wasn't able to get as sharp of an eye shadow look as Jenner, but I think if I used a piece of tape as a straight edge, it would turn out better next time. Several of my coworkers complimented my makeup and were surprised to learn it was based off one of Jenner's, considering how tame it is.

Day 3: Pink on Pink

By the last day, I was prepared for anything the day would throw at me. I wore a neutral-colored shirt (black) to let my makeup really show, and even wore pink earrings to make my makeup pop. I got up earlier — these looks took twice as long as my ordinary routine — and planned the products I wanted to use the night before. This ended up being my favorite of the three looks, and I even used one of Jenner's own products, the Kylie Cosmetics Glitter Eyes in Roses are Red ($20) to pack on the sparkly pink on my eye.

Overall, I would say there were a few big challenges I faced while trying to replicate her look. For one, my lips are much smaller than hers, even while overlining. We have different eye shapes, so I had to alter my shadow placement to make the looks work for me. Lastly, no matter how much eyebrow pencil and mascara I pile on, I won't look like Jenner without some microblading and lash extensions.
