Fresh's New Rose Mask Is My New Favorite Skincare Treat, and I Don't Even Like Rose

I was apprehensive to try Fresh's new Rose Deep Hydration Sleeping Mask ($50). Not because I don't love Fresh (the brand's lip balms and face scrubs are among my favorite products) but because I'm not in love with rose scents. I decided to try the skincare treatment out anyway, and boy, am I happy I did.

When I first unscrewed the cap, I braced myself to be hit with a strong floral smell. Fortunately, the smell was light, refreshing, and enjoyable. The mask is split into two portions, with a "Step 1" and "Step 2" side. Step one is an amber-colored gel that contains rosewater to soothe the skin, and damask rose extract to hydrate and smooth the skin. It's also packed with hyaluronic acid to hydrate. The second step has a creamy consistency to lock in the moisture, and has evening primrose root extract to make sure your hydration lasts throughout the night.

After washing my face with my usual cleanser, I applied the first step in the mask. I only needed a small amount of the gel to coat my entire face, and my skin instantly felt quenched. The second cream step felt even more hydrating, and I then headed off to bed.

In the morning, I breathed a sigh of relief after looking in the mirror. My tired, stressed-out, irritated skin had finally calmed down. The redness had finally faded, and my complexion looked plump, not puffy. I was amazed that overnight, my skin looked more moisturized than it had in months, earning this mask a permanent place in my overcrowded medicine cabinet.

See the mask (and my next-day dew) ahead.
