Katy Perry's New Hair Is the Least Katy Perry It's Ever Been — and I Like It

If we ever need hair inspiration, we need look no further than pop star Katy Perry. She's tried everything from bubblegum pink hair to a pixie, which she admitted left her feeling "exposed,", and even teal blue hair. Her latest switch might not have been a dramatically colorful one, but it still made us gasp.

Last week, Perry temporarily said goodbye to her pixie in favor of a superstylish blond lob with some lived-in brunette roots, and it might just be one of our favorite looks yet. Luckily for us, Chris Appleton (the man suspected to be Kim Kardashian's bodyguard and creator of snatched ponytails) shared a step-by-step tutorial on how to recreate Perry's lived-in wavy lob. Appleton instructed to start by saturating the hair using Color Wow Dream Coat ($28) to protect colored hair from frizz and to lock in moisture.

After applying texturizing spray, curl the hair in sections using Harry Josh 2-in-1 Ceramic Marcel Curling Iron ($175). Appleton's recommended curling in alternate directions for the lived-in movement.

For the final step, Appleton suggested brushing out the curls with a trusty Tangle Teaser ($12) for a soft finish.
