These Extreme Eyelashes From the Met Gala Deserve a Closer Look

Can we all agree that "Camp: Notes on Fashion" is the best theme we've seen in years from the Met Gala? Collectively, everyone showed up and turned out — Lady Gaga wore four outfits within a matter of minutes; Katy Perry went from a chandelier to a cheeseburger; Billy Porter entered like the royal he is. You know it's a good year when the only bad thing is if your outfit isn't "interesting" enough, right? Fashion took center stage, of course, but we'd argue that many of the beauty looks took the outfits to the next level. Headpieces, optical illusions — they all had their moment on the first Monday in May, but so did extreme eye makeup.

Lady Gaga, Gigi Hadid, Billy Porter, Darren Criss, Lucy Boynton, Priyanka Chopra, Bette Midler, and more were the ultimate champs, wearing lashes so over-the-top, they had our eyes watering. (Can you imagine wearing those all night long?) There were also plenty of gorgeous appliqués and eye shadow blends to be envious of. Keep reading to see who all kicked lash at the Met.

Gigi Hadid

Maybelline global makeup artist Erin Parsons applied these killer lashes to Gigi Hadid.

Billy Porter

Emmy-nominated artist La Sonya Gunter applied this work of art to cochair Billy Porter's face using Pat McGrath Labs.

Lady Gaga

Gaga's longtime makeup artist Sarah Tanno said artist Nicky Andrea helped create the extravagant gold lashes, while she used all Marc Jacobs Beauty to create the rest of the look.

Priyanka Chopra

On Priyanka Chopra, artist Pati Dubroff used Marc Jacobs Beauty Velvet Primer Epic Lash Primer on the bottom lashes to lighten them up and applied a white pencil to a fan brush before glazing the top lashes with it.

Lucy Boynton

Makeup artist Jo Baker used Chanel to accentuate Boynton's already long and gorgeous lashes and created a firework effect on the lids. It appears she also applied tiny rhinestones to the lashes as well.

Lupita Nyong'o

Celebrity makeup artist Nick Barose used Lancome to create a look inspired by drag queen Divine in John Waters's films.

Janelle Monáe

Technically, her eye makeup wasn't extreme, but she did have an extremely large blinking eye with gargantuan eyelashes on her bosom, so it counts, right?

Darren Criss

We love that Darren Criss stepped up to the plate with this stunning makeup presentation.

Makeup artist Yolonda Frederick created "blitz emerald eyes" for Ciara using Pat McGrath Labs.

Hailee Steinfeld's look can all be found at Dermstore, according to her makeup artist Carolina Gonzalez.

Aquaria

Aquaria did her own makeup using all NYX Cosmetics.

Sara Sampaio

Kelsey Deenihan gave Sara Sampaio truly fluttery lashes.

Sophie Turner

Newlywed Sophie Turner went for a dramatic navy winged smoky eye, care of artist Georgie Eisdell.

Madelaine Petsch

At her debut at the Met Gala, Madelaine Petsch sported an ethereal pink shadow and what appeared to be naturally long, gorgeous lashes, with makeup by Alex Byrne.

Lili Reinhart

Makeup artist Adam Breuchaud turned Lili Reinhart into Lili Antoinette using Maybelline New York to create an exaggerated eye and cheek moment.

Indya Moore

Indya Moore's main event was the stunning art strategically placed on her forehead, but it was accentuated with Pat McGrath Labs. Artist Sherri Berman Laurence created the look.

Bette Midler

Bette Midler and daughter Sophie von Haselberg owned the camp theme. Makeup artist (and legend) Sandy Linter adorned Midler with quite the lash set.

Lily Collins

Lily Collins leaned into the retro, Priscilla Presley-esque vibe of her gown, in which artist Fiona Stiles accentuated using a matte lilac eye shadow from Lancome and some big ol' fake lashes. Stiles built the bottom lashes herself three days before the gala using three sets of Japanese lashes.

Violet Chachki

Violet Chachki gave us a blue wave at the Met.

Paloma Elsesser

Paloma Elsesser took denim up a notch. Makeup artist Grace Anh gave her doll lashes with a purple and blue color scheme to tie into the theme.
