These Are the Beauty Brands Considered "Clean" at QVC and HSN

Nobody likes to consider the products they use on their face as "dirty," but we know all too well that there is a standard in which some products are considered safer than others. While the green and clean beauty movement has grown exponentially, the landscape is still foggy, and it leaves many of us feeling lost or confused when it comes to what products are considered "clean." (Not to mention there's little regulation in this area, and the definition of "clean" varies depending on who you're speaking with.)

Many retailers are opting to make it easier for shoppers who are looking to make some swaps in their routine. Sephora introduced the "Clean at Sephora" seal last year; retailers like Credo only carry brands that adhere to their strict list of qualifications. Now, QVC and HSN are introducing their own Clean Beauty seal.

The QVC and HSN Clean Beauty seal is awarded to brands that are formulated without SLS and SLES (foaming agents), parabens, methylisothiazolinone/methylchloroisothiazolinone (preservatives linked to lung toxicity and allergies and considered neurotoxins, among other issues), formaldehydes, formaldehyde-releasing agents (a bulking agent that is derived from animals and is considered highly toxic), phthalates, petrolatum, mineral oil, chemical sunscreens, coal tar (often found in dandruff shampoos), hydroquinone (a skin bleaching agent), triclosan (found in bar soap, deodorant, shaving cream, and body washes), triclocarban (a deodorant agent and preservative), aluminum, and talc (found in many powder products, including eye shadows, face powder, bronzers, etc.).

These products also contain less than one percent of synthetic fragrances, which can irritate the skin, and are certified cruelty-free by a third-party source.

The list is small but curated, but both QVC and HSN plan to expand it as they assess more brands. Keep reading to see if any of your favorite brands made the cut.
