If you haven't heard about the neon beauty trend causing quite a colorful commotion right now, no offense, but um . . . where have you been? Everyone from Rihanna to Shailene Woodley to about 92,638 other people in New York City and beyond have been wearing a smattering of shockingly bright colors in the form of eye shadow, lipstick, nail polish, and more.

But like all things bold in this world, there's the question of wearability — as in, how much can it be, really? The answer: blazingly so. We asked editors how they would incorporate neon manicures and makeup into their everyday lives to see just how approachable the trend can get, and damn, were we surprised. Get ready: the looks ahead are lit with inspiration.

Neon Blue Eyeliner

Neon Blue Eyeliner

"At first, I took home the Fenty Beauty Vivid Liquid Eyeliners to have fun playing around with them and most likely shelve for my next festival, in case I ever decided to become a rave person. Although the Hollapeño shade (a neon green) definitely will have that fate, Hot Tub Club (a neon blue) is a different matter. After waltzing around my apartment wearing the blue hue, I became really, really fond of it. I wore it on a night out for the first time and now have the confidence to wear it day-to-day to the office. I create a small cat eye (the brush is so easy to use), apply a slick of mascara, and keep the rest of my makeup minimal so I don't feel too overwhelmed by color. Who said you can't make neon makeup work for the office?" — Tori Crowther, assistant editor, UK

Neon Yellow Mascara

Neon Yellow Mascara

"I usually like my lashes black or dark brown, so neon yellow mascara is totally out of my comfort zone. I decided that, since yellow is such a bright color, it would be better to wear it with a neutral complexion look — just a bit of blush and nude lips. What I initially noticed after application is that one coat would not be enough, so I did about three to four. The yellow actually made my eyes look wider and larger, an effect I'm always looking for because I enjoy looking expressive. If you're into neon colors and fun makeup, a bright mascara is right up your alley. You can do so much with colored mascaras, and I'm excited to try different bright shades." — Rachael Edwards, social media coordinator

Neon Pink Lipstick

Neon Pink Lipstick

"We are, as humans, creatures of habit, and I am the model student for that theory. My approach to makeup is the perfect example: I tend to stick to a neutral color palette juuuust about every day. Sometimes, though, on special occasions, I like to mix it up with a hit of color on my lips. While reds tend to be people's favorite color, I'm a sucker for a good pink — and if you kick up the saturation, you've got the perfect neon hue for Summer. This fuchsia shade definitely stood out in all the best ways and managed to convince me that maybe, just maybe, I should switch it up a little more often." — Kelsey Castañon, senior editor, Beauty

Neon Yellow Nail Polish

"I never wear neon colors on my fingers (I keep those strictly for my toes), but this pastel lime shade reminded me of one of my college Spring breaks to Cancun — it is the same color of margaritas, after all — so I decided to give it a go. The neon green-yellow is extra bright against my medium, caramel-colored skin, making me look almost as tan as I would if I'd actually just come back from Mexico." — Jesa Calaor, assistant editor, Beauty

Neon Pink Eye Shadow

Neon Pink Eye Shadow

"I'm not a big eye shadow girl (much less neon shades), but recently I was tasked with re-creating Kylie Jenner's makeup look from her Astroworld Tour Get Ready With Me video. For the most part, the look is simple — barely there eye, deep nude lip, and a dust of highlight — until you get to the fluorescent pink inner corners. Eeek! But after wearing the look for a full day (including on the train and in other public New York City spaces), I have to say I'm 100 percent on board. The eye was so fun and just the right amount of bold — it didn't feel over the top at all and is an easy way to dip your toe (or brush) into neon makeup. Honestly, I've been looking for another excuse to wear the look ever since." — Carrie Carrollo, associate beauty editor, Native

Neon Green Eye Shadow

"On weekends, I'm usually ready to really commit and go bold with my makeup. In this instance, I picked out a simple white t-shirt (with a colorful pocket), kept the rest of my makeup simple, and went for it with a neon shadow stick from Huda Beauty. I grabbed the corner of a makeup wipe and a wet cotton swab to wipe along the edges for a precise line. Then, I carefully applied liquid liner and mascara over the neon mint hue. While my boyfriend said it was 'definitely green,' several coworkers and a strange neon-clad man on the subway seemed to like my daring look quite a lot." — Sarah Siegel, assistant editor, Beauty

Neon Coral Cat Eye

Neon Coral Cat Eye

"My makeup look doesn't feel complete until I've drawn on a graphic cat eye, and lately, I've been embracing bolder hues for the look. My pick for today was a vibrant neon coral named Groove from a BH Cosmetics palette. I laid down a base of concealer that was slightly lighter than my skin tone before dabbing the shadow across my lids into a dramatic, winged eyeliner shape. It was electric against my medium skin tone and made me feel like I've hopped straight from the hottest magazine in the '80s — which I think is pretty rad." — JC

Neon Teal Nail Polish

Neon Teal Nail Polish

"I'm an avid nail biter (I know, I know — I've tried everything to kick the habit), which means I'm usually too self-conscious to wear polish that demands any kind of attention — and the neon trend is nothing if not attention-grabbing. Nonetheless, I decided to give it a go after seeing practically every single human walking this earth try it out, and I have to say: my nails may be small, but this neon teal color makes me feel pretty mighty." — KC

Neon Eggplant Lipstick

Neon Eggplant Lipstick

"I have been loving this year's makeup trends becoming bolder and brighter and was eager to try out the neon trend for myself. While I had already dipped my toe into the trend with a fluorescent pink pedicure and experimented with brightly colored eyeliner, the bright purple lip was new for me. I loved the look, but next time, I think I'll opt for a sheer neon gloss instead of an opaque lip cream, which I prefer in the warmer months." — SS
