Kiernan Shipka’s Natural Hair Color Is Totally Different From What You See on Screen

Though Kiernan Shipka has been different variations of blond for her most memorable roles, you might be surprised to learn that her natural hair color is actually very different.

As Sabrina Spellman on Netflix's The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, she plays an all-powerful witch whose hair starts out golden and becomes a platinum blond (borderline white) as she embraces her magic and walks further down the path of night. As Sally Draper, daughter of Don and Betty Draper in Mad Men, she also had golden hair that was often adorned with headbands and other accessories. Shipka's long-time hair colorist, Chad Kenyon, told us that her natural hue is actually a light brown.

"Kiernan's natural hair color is a beautiful, rich light brunette," he said. In order to get it to the blond you've been seeing on screen, Kenyon has an specific process. "I do my signature 'Colormelt Method' for Kiernan, which includes my balayage technique, hair strobing, hyper-natural shadow root with microlows, and a global gloss." Kenyon also said that since Shipka takes "great care" of her hair in between sessions, she's able to go a long time between appointments. Ahead, check out Shipka's hair transformations over the years.
