Your memory of using nail stickers and decals might reach as far back as your middle school sleepover days. Don't worry, this trend isn't that. These nail embellishments are cooler, more elevated, and the stuff of Instagram gold. To execute the "tonal studs" nail art trend, you'll need your most prismatic pearls or gems, and, of course, your favorite nail polish color.

Chief Creative Officer of NYC salon Paintbox Eleanor Langston previously told POPSUGAR that she predicts that the look will be everywhere this Fall. "Adding a tonal stud is easy to do and looks modern and subtle," she said. "It adds chic interest to your nails."

Lady Gaga kicked off the trend with her pearl-encrusted manicure created by Miho Okawara, which she debuted on Instagram, and we're certain we'll see more A-listers try it out in the cooler months. In the meantime, check out the most eye-catching "tonal studs" nail art looks on the Internet, ahead.

The Tonal Studs Nail Art Trend on Lady Gaga

Nail artist Miho Okawara revealed the manicures Lady Gaga wore during and after her recent shoot for Allure's October issue in an Instagram post. It included a beige polish color (by Presto Gel) with pearl and gold accents. Pearl embellishments are predicted to be one of this Fall's biggest nail art trends, according to Langston.

"A standout from [Paintbox's] FW19 collection is our Have a Ball manicure, which pairs tonal studs with rich opaque lacquers in colorways of grape, khaki, blue, and marigold," Langston said. "Adding a tonal stud is easy to do and looks modern and subtle. It adds chic interest to your nails."
