This Person Cosplays as Historical Figures, and I Haven't Seen Anything More Gorgeous

Sometimes we come across people who remind us that cosplaying really is an art. Take Richard Arthur, for instance, whose Instagram page is full of gorgeous transformations inspired by art, literature, and historical figures.

If you're familiar with popular cosplayers, you may have already heard of the Savannah, GA-based creator. Under their former Instagram name, TheOfficialAriel, Arthur has gone viral for cosplaying as Disney characters like Ariel, Aladdin, Pocahontas, and Maleficent using a combination of detailed wigs, intricate costumes, colorful contacts, and some seriously impressive makeup skills. Most of their work these days has a much different, more historical focus, but that doesn't make it any less amazing.

Whether they're inspired by paintings or characters from period dramas, their looks as of late have all been stunning and strangely accurate. Take a look at some of our favorites ahead.
