During her decades-long career, Alicia Keys has blessed us with music, movies, and even a few books. Still, as beauty editors, nothing had us more excited than the launch of her beauty line: Keys Soulcare. Since its release in 2021, the brand has come out with everything from skin care to color cosmetics, and its latest launch takes the brand another step into the complexion category.

The It's Like Skin 2-In-1 Concealer + Tint ($28) is a multi-use base product formulated with ingredients like squalene and niacinamide that delivers a soft, dewy finish to the skin. The product comes in 40 shades and promises buildable, light-to-medium coverage, making it a timely front-runner in the quest for a summer-appropriate foundation that won't feel heavy on the face.

The skin tint is in line with Key's personal beauty philosophy, which has evolved since she famously stopped wearing makeup back in 2016. Her beauty looks in recent years have consistently erred on the side of natural, featuring products that serve to enhance the skin, rather than cover it up. We got the opportunity to try the tint for ourselves, so if you're in the market for some newness, read ahead to see what four of POPSUGAR's beauty editors thoughts of the product.

"As someone who doesn't really like wearing foundation but still wants a little coverage, this Keys Soulcare Skin Tint is a dream. After finishing my skin-care routine, I used the large doe-foot applicator (which I loved) to apply some of the product to my forehead, chin, and cheeks before using a brush to blend it in. I instantly noticed how it blurred any blemishes, redness, and hyperpigmentation I had without looking too heavy. The consistency is like a creamy, pigmented serum that melts into skin for an undetectable finish.

Because it's buildable, I was able to apply a little more where I needed it (on my chin) but leave it sheer on my cheeks so my freckles show through. After using it once, it now has a permanent spot in my makeup routine." — Jessica Harrington, beauty editor

"I love a dewy finish but as someone with acne-prone skin, I also want coverage in my base makeup. It's not often that those two worlds come together in a formula as lightweight as the Keys Soulcare 2-in-1 Skin Tint, but the brand has somehow managed to do it. It doesn't feel heavy on the skin but still offers really incredible medium coverage. It covered my hyperpigmentation like a dream, and smaller texture bumps looked significantly more blurred. However, I will say that due to how hydrating it is, I do fear that it may emphasize any raised pimples on my face, like whiteheads.

Though the brand has 40 shades, I found myself between two, 420 w and 410 n. Neither matched the undertones in my skin perfectly, so I'd I have to do a little extra work with my concealers and powders to get a truly seamless finish." — Ariel Baker, assistant beauty editor

"The only downside to meeting Alicia Keys a few years back — and yes, there can only be one — is that I've been haunted by her clear, glowing skin ever since. Even after a two-hour concert, she looked damn near perfect, without a makeup smudge in sight, and as I looked into my makeup bag, nothing I tried seemed to get me anywhere near her orbit. Finally, this 2-in-1 Concealer and Tint seems to be the solution: just a few dabs from the jumbo-sized applicator onto my cheeks and forehead leaves me with the fresh, dewy, subtly-glistening skin of my dreams. I appreciate that it's not as pigmented as what you'd expect from a full-coverage foundation, which makes it ideal for the warmer months, but you do get more coverage than you would with concealer. Plus, it blends out perfectly (whether you use your hands, like me, or the brand's makeup sponge)." — Kelsey Castañon, beauty director

"Normally I'm not a fan of two-in-one products because I find that they don't often work as well as they claim, but that wasn't the case with the It's Like Skin 2-in-1 Concealer + Skin Tint. I was able to use it as both a skin tint and a concealer, depending on what I needed it for, making it one of my favorite new products — especially for travel. (Overpacking is so overrated, am I right?)

I'm a no-makeup-makeup girl, and I love products that aren't too heavy, are buildable, and meet my skin's needs. This product checks all of those boxes. I have dry, occasionally flaky skin, but it didn't cling to any of the dry patches like some products do. I actually felt like the formula was hydrating and kept my skin looking dewy throughout the day. I'm also acne-prone, and while everyone's skin is different, this didn't make me breakout — not even on the super sensitive areas that don't typically withstand new products well." — Renee Rodriguez, staff writer and social producer
