Megan Thee Stallion Always Follows These 5 Makeup Tips

Landing that perfect cut crease or fierce cat eye before the dawn of TikTok was a struggle, to say the least. Without millions of beauty content creators zooming in on their painstaking technique and sharing their go-to products, most of us were left to our own devices, and admittedly uneven wings. Even Megan Thee Stallion — she of the liner so sharp it could cut you if you stand too close — spent hours in front of a computer mastering her now signature look. "It was the first thing I learned how to do from watching YouTube," the three-time Grammy award winner tells us of her liner and cut crease process. "So I did it every single day until I perfected it."

Like many teenage girls before her, Megan reveals that she first fell in love with beauty and makeup in middle school, testing out different styles to find what type of look felt the most true to her eighth grade self. "It became another way to express my personality, style, and creativity, so I really enjoyed experimenting with makeup and loved how it made me feel," she says.

Now, it's no longer the hallways of a Houston, Texas campus that are blessed with Megan's formidable beauty aesthetic but rather red carpets and sold-out stadiums around the world. And since exploding onto the music scene with her viral EP "Make It Hot" in 2017, her legions of fans can recognize (and eagerly duplicate) that quintessential MTS beauty look in a heartbeat. "I really love a glossy lip, a good cat eye, and a good brow," the musician says. "I also make sure to use my Revlon ColorStay Micro Easy Precision Liquid Liner because it's long-lasting and keeps me looking flawless whether I'm performing or out with friends."

Of her many notable beauty moments through the years, one of the most memorable debuted at this year's Vanity Fair Oscar Party, wherein Megan's flawless skin, high shine lips, and devastatingly crisp liner dazzled alongside a full crown of natural curls that seemed to defy gravity. As she explains of the look, "I wanted to feel fresh and like I didn't have a full face of makeup, but still give sexy, still give glam. I was nervous about my hair because I had never worn my hair like that on a carpet before, so I wanted to make the makeup look as sultry and natural as possible. I loved how everything came together — it ended up being such a smooth and memorable day."

But for as many successful red carpet appearances as she has had, the performer notes that there's always a risk that things can go wrong at the last minute. To avoid this, Megan reveals that there are a few parts of her glam that she still prefers to handle herself. "I always do my own eyebrows and my own nose contour," she says. "I feel like I can't do anything without good brows, so that's definitely a priority for me. It's just something I know how to do really well and I feel more comfortable doing it myself."

In order to keep this type of matte makeup look fresh for photos and feel comfortable throughout the Oscars party — never tight or dry — skin prep was essential. "Before putting on makeup, I like to use the Revlon ColorStay Prep & Protect Primer," says Megan, who has been a face for the brand since August 2020. "Also, whenever I'm traveling or just need a quick refresh, Revlon's PhotoReady Rose Glow Face Mist is key to helping keep my skin hydrated."

And while the rapper is quick to assure us that she's game to try just about any makeup look that inspires her, adding that, "everything is fair game and I don't shut any styles or ideas down," she also knows that there is a need for balance in her beauty routine. "I'm a big believer in [that], so it's important to let your skin breathe every once in a while," she says of her makeup regimen between her jam-packed calendar of events and shows. "Balance is important overall in life, so I'm never afraid to show that side of myself to my Hotties."
