Beyoncé Stuns as a Mexican Icon in Her Second Halloween Costume

This Halloween, Beyoncé honored icons who paved the way for female artists. On Friday, the singer channeled Janet Jackson in an adorable moment with her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, who dressed as Michael Jackson. Later that day, Beyoncé switched gears for a party at Charlie Bird in NYC, which she attended with husband Jay Z and Blue. With thick eyebrows, a floral headpiece, and a colorful ensemble, Bey nailed the look of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. She stopped short of donning a mustache and full-on unibrow, two features Frida made prominent in several of her incredible self-portraits. Although Bey is the only A-lister who has dressed as Frida this Halloween, she isn't the first music superstar to channel the artist, since Madonna has paid homage to the painter throughout her career.

Meanwhile, Jay Z also embraced the art theme, dressing as American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat in a trench coat, sunglasses, and wig. The mogul and rapper has been vocal about his appreciation of the painter: in "Picasso Baby," a song on the Magna Carta Holy Grail album, Jay Z raps about being "the new Jean-Michel," and he's written several other lines about the artist over the years. Scroll through to compare Bey and Jay to the people who inspired their costumes, and then see how other stars stunned on Halloween this year.
