On May 4, Billie Lourd honored her late mother, Carrie Fisher, with a throwback picture for Star Wars Day. In the snapshot, the 26-year-old actress and her mother — who was best-known for playing the honorable Princess Leia — strike a serious pose while giving fierce looks into the camera. Billie captioned the post with a series of emojis that spell out "May the 4th." She first posted the picture in 2015 when she and Carrie were preparing to hit the red carpet at the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In the film, Carrie reprised her role as Princess Leia while Billie made her intergalactic debut as Lieutenant Connix.
In 2016, Carrie Fisher died at the age of 60 after suffering from a heart attack. Billie has since continued to honor her mother's legacy with tributes and special homages. On the first anniversary of Carrie's death, Billie honored her by taking a trip to see the Northern Lights — a spectacle Carrie personally loved. The following year, she posted a video of her singing one of Carrie's favorite songs, "These Days" by Jackson Browne. Later this year, Carrie will make a posthumous appearance in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
