Derek Jeter's Final Game at Yankee Stadium Has a Storybook Ending

Derek Jeter had a movie-worthy ending to his final game at Yankee Stadium in NYC on Thursday night. During his at bat in the bottom of the ninth, he hit a single to drive in the game-winning run, giving the Yankees a 6-5 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. The game was the 40-year-old player's last at the Bronx Bombers' home base, but the final game of his 20-year career will take place sometime this weekend when the Yankees square off against their longtime rivals, the Boston Red Sox. However, Derek made it clear that his hometown game was also his final match as a shortstop, as he wanted to "take something special from Yankee Stadium," though he'll still take on the role of designated hitter sometime over the weekend "out of respect for the Red Sox fans." The Yankees captain added, "I've only played shortstop throughout my entire career, and the last time I want to play was tonight."

The stadium was full of emotion on Thursday, and Derek's family turned out to help him celebrate his last game. One cute moment involved Derek's nephew tipping his cap (aka, Derek's signature move) to his uncle while he was on the field.
