Ellen DeGeneres Message About the Election Results 2016

Ellen DeGeneres's Postelection Promise to the Country Is the One We All Need

No matter what you've been feeling since Donald Trump was elected president of the United States on Tuesday night, one thing is clear to every single American: we could all use a little bit more love. And Ellen DeGeneres, Hollywood's laughter fairy godmother, knows that her job is more important now than ever. In addition to urging the country to unite amid these uncertain times, the host also assured her fans (and the world) that she and her message of being kind to one another are not going anywhere. "You may have heard that there was a presidential election on Tuesday," she said during her show's opening monologue on Thursday. "The big winner was alcohol. Obviously, a lot of people were disappointed by the results. My job is to be hopeful and to make everybody feel good. And I'm gonna keep doing that for as long as I can." Ellen also offered a hopeful quote from Eleanor Roosevelt, saying, "It is better to light a candle than curse the darkness." Indeed it is, Ellen.
