Jon Stewart tackled the Brian Williams scandal on The Daily Show on Monday, summarizing the news before weighing in on media coverage about the story. Back in 2003, Brian reported that the helicopter ahead of his was "almost blown out of the sky" by a rocket-propelled grenade, but in 2013, when he sat down with David Letterman, his story changed — he said that two of four NBC helicopters, including the one he was riding in, were hit by ground fire. After asking, "Why, Bri? Why Bri lie?" Jon turned to how news outlets have been covering the controversy, saying, "The media is on it. Finally, someone is being held to account for misleading America about the Iraq war." He added, "It might not be the first person you'd want held accountable on that list. But never again will Brian Williams mislead this great nation about being shot at in a war we probably wouldn't have ended up in if the media had applied this level of scrutiny to the actual f*cking war."
