Katy Perry Made a Joke About Britney Spears Shaving Her Head, and People Are Not Happy

Katy Perry hit the red carpet at the Grammys in LA on Sunday, and during her interview with Ryan Seacrest, the singer touched on her recent return to the spotlight after taking some time away from music. "It's called taking care of your mental health," the "Chained to the Rhythm" singer said, adding, "I haven't shaved my head yet." The comment seemed like a pretty obvious reference to Britney Spears's infamous troubles in 2007, during which she shaved her head at an LA salon. It didn't take long for social media users to rail against Katy "mocking mental illness."

Katy Perry mocking Britney on the red carpet. Not cute! Good luck with that new single, sis!

Your "woke" queen, Katy Perry the Platypus, thinks mocking someone else's mental illness is funny. pic.twitter.com/j6zI0sajWJ

It's funny that Katy talks about mental stability like she's not a 32 year old woman doing candy land themed music videos. Weird ass bitch.

Very classy of you to Shame @britneyspears. Her mental breakdown may not be yours but what about "feminism and lifting women"? @katyperry

I love you @katyperry but Britney Spears is outselling you and 20 years into her career. Let that sink on #Grammys pic.twitter.com/LoLCSVBrVN
