In the immediate aftermath of Carrie's death, Mark wrote her a deeply moving farewell letter, where he reminisced about their first time meeting, spending time together on set, and the friendship that ensued. On filming the more recent films in the Star Wars franchise, Mark said, "I think it was reassuring to her that I was there, the same person, that she could trust me, as critical as we could sometimes be with each other." He added, "We went through it all. It's like we were a family."
