In the May 2014 issue of Variety, Taylor spoke about his laid-back approach to his appearance and how shooting The Normal Heart opened up a whole other world for him. "I didn't even know what a blowout was until this movie. I don't remember the last time I combed my hair."

When the Variety journalist told Taylor that he had watched a double feature of his movies the night before, the actor responded with the glorious phrase, "Oh man! All you can Kitsch."

Taylor told GQ in March 2012 that filming Friday Night Lights turned him into a Southern-loving man. "Texas forever," he said, referencing his famous line from the hit show. He event built his dream home in Austin.

The world could have known Taylor in a very different way! The actor was a dedicated hockey player while growing up in his native Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, but had to give it up when he injured his knee.

Taylor revealed his sensitive side when he told GQ in March 2012 that he loves beautiful scenery. "Those Texas sunsets . . . I work a lot in Africa: Texas and Africa have the best sunsets on the planet, that I've ever seen."
