According to Newsweek, the app uses artificial intelligence to "create realistic transformations of users' faces using various filters and features."
It's unknown who started the FaceApp Challenge, but it has celebrities and people all over the internet posting photos of what they may look like in 50 years, and it's pretty hilarious.
