Zendaya Visits Mural Dedicated to Angus Cloud Following His Death

Hollywood is mourning Angus Cloud after his sudden death was reported on July 31. Per TMZ, which broke the news, the "Euphoria" star was at his family's home in Oakland, CA, when he died at age 25. In a statement to the outlet, Cloud's family revealed that the beloved actor had buried his father the week prior and "intensely struggled with this loss." "The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend," they wrote. ". . . We hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter and love for everyone. We ask for privacy at this time as we are still processing this devastating loss."

Cloud's mother, Lisa Cloud, released a Facebook statement on Aug. 4 sharing more details about the actor's death. "I also want you to know that although my son was in deep grief about his father's untimely death from mesothelioma, his last day was a joyful one," she wrote. "He was reorganizing his room and placing items around the house with intent to stay a while in the home he loved. He spoke of his intent to help provide for his sisters at college, and also help his mom emotionally and financially. He did not intend to end his life. When we hugged goodnight we said how much we loved each other and he said he would see me in the morning. I don't know if or what he may have put in his body after that. I only know that he put his head on the desk where he was working on art project's, fell asleep and didn't wake up."

She added, "We may find out that he overdosed accidentally and tragically, but it's abundantly clear that he did not intend to check out of this world. His struggles were real. He gave and received so much love and support to and from his tribe. His work in 'Euphoria' became a lightning rod for his generation and opened up a conversation about compassion, loyalty, acceptance and love. . . . Social media posts have suggested his death was intentional. I want you to know that is not the case. To honor his memory, please make random acts of kindness part of your daily life. Bless your hearts."

Soon after news of Cloud's death circulated, tributes from fans and his "Euphoria" family poured in. The HBO show and its network released a joint statement on social media that read, "We are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Angus Cloud. He was immensely talented and a beloved part of the HBO and Euphoria family. We extend our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time."

Cloud's "Euphoria" costar Javon Walton, who played his onscreen little brother, Ashtray, paid tribute to him on Instagram by sharing a photo of the two embracing. He captioned it, "rest easy brother❤️🕊️." Another costar, Alexa Demie, didn't share a formal statement, though she mourned his death on Instagram Stories, simply posting a lone broken-heart emoji. "Euphoria" star Colman Domingo paid tribute to Cloud in a People interview published on Aug. 7, telling the outlet he was "pure light and joy." He added, "And he was also a little odd. Which is what I loved about him."

On Aug. 1, "Euphoria"'s head makeup artist Doniella Davy honored Cloud on Instagram, writing in part, "His kind, sweet demeanor on the show was just how he was in real life. He was bashfully charming and brought the 'Euphoria' makeup trailer joy and laughter — loads of it . . . Angus will be thought of, spoken about, and remembered all the damn time by his 'Euphoria' family. We were so lucky to have known him."

I'm so grateful I got the chance to know him in this life, to call him a brother, to see his warm kind eyes and bright smile, or hear his infectious cackle of a laugh (I'm smiling now just thinking of it) I know people use this expression often when talking about folks they love…'they could light up any room they entered' but boy let me tell you, he was the best at it. I'd like to remember him that way. For all of the boundless light, love and joy he always managed to give us. I'll cherish every moment. My heart is with his mother and family at this time and please be kind and patient as grief looks different for everyone."

The "Euphoria" actor and singer addressed his costar's death during his Houston concert on Aug. 2. Per a TikTok video posted by a fan, Fike told the crowd, "I guess I lost a friend of mine recently. He died the other night, which is wild to say because I don't deal with grief often. I haven't had a lot of death happen around me, and this was the first time I feel like I knew the person well enough to cry over and feel something. It was weird."

He continued of Cloud, "I sometimes look at people like sparks. I zoom out, and I think people have wavelengths. If you zoom out far enough, you see some people — probably not a lot of us at all — but I think if you zoomed out millions of miles, you would see this kid's spark. You could see it from so far away, even if it was a short flash. He would light up a room, any room he walked in. He's a f*cking good dude. I felt stupid coming out here. Like, this is so stupid, doing a show and being happy. But he would've wanted me to do that. He would've been like, 'No, do the show, have fun.'"

There's many comments made out there on social media saying you wouldn't get a realer person in this industry because he didn't know how to put on airs. He didn't know how to not be himself, and that's what I appreciated so much. And I think there's a huge loss of that."
