Hearts all over the world were warmed when news that Chris Evans and Alba Baptista reportedly wed on Sept. 9 made headlines. After years of being one of Hollywood's most eligible bachelors, Evans was officially off the market.

Evans, 42, and Baptista, 26, tied the knot at a private estate in Cape Cod, MA, People confirmed, noting that Evans's Marvel costars — including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, and John Krasinski — were all spotted in Boston ahead of the ceremony. While not a whole lot is known about the couple's journey to marriage, one thing is certain: Evans was ready to settle down, per an interview with People just one year before he became a husband.

"That's absolutely something I want: wife, kids, building a family," Evans told the outlet. "When you read about most of the best artists, whether it's actors, painters, writers, most of them [admit] it wasn't the work they made [that they are most proud of], it was about the relationships; the families they created, the love they found, the love they shared."

He added: "So it's also something through my long 41 years that also rings true. Those things are the most important. I love the idea of tradition and ceremony. I had a lot of that in my life, so the idea of creating that — I can't think of anything better."

November 2022: People Reports Chris Evans and Alba Baptista Are Dating

People broke the news that Evans and Baptista had been dating "for over a year," despite the duo keeping mum about their relationship. At the time, a source told the outlet that the two were serious.

"They are in love and Chris has never been happier," the insider shared. "His family and friends all adore her." The news came nearly 11 months after Evans and Baptista sparked romance speculation when eagle-eyed social media users noticed the actress started not only following him on Instagram, but also members of his family.

In October, fans also pointed out that carved pumpkins in a photo Evans had posted to his page matched ones in Baptista's profile picture.

January 2023: Chris Evans Confirms Relationship With Alba Baptista

Months after news of their relationship made headlines, Evans took matters into his own hands and seemingly confirmed his romance with Baptista by sharing a video reflecting on his 2022. In the clip, which was captioned "A look back at 2022," Evans and Baptista could be seen being playful with one another while jokingly spooking each other.

In honor of Valentine's Day a month later, Evans went all out on social media by showing his love for Baptista with a photo montage of the two, documenting their sweet romance.

September 2023: Chris Evans and Alba Baptista Get Married

While not much is publicly known about Evans and Baptista's Cape Cod nuptials, months prior to becoming a husband, the Marvel actor opened up to People about the things he had learned about relationships over the years.

"You spend a lot of time learning what's been helpful and what hasn't been," he shared. "We all have patterns, hang-ups or baggage that repeat and echo, so I've really been able to kind of identify where I need improvement and what works."

He added: "I also really see the value and strength behind saying, 'I'm sorry.' If you're able in those vulnerable moments to stay calm and listen, and say you're sorry even if you don't think you've done anything wrong because it's not from your perspective it's from the other person's, I think that opens up a door in a very healthy way."
