Out of All His Accomplishments, Eminem Is "Most Proud" of Raising His 3 Kids

As Eminem was thrust into the public eye for his talents as a rapper after the release of his debut album, "Infinite," in 1996, his personal life quickly made headlines as well. Prior to dropping the album, the "Slim Shady" singer welcomed a daughter with his high school sweetheart, Kim Scott. The couple wed in June 1999 and later split after going through plenty of public rough patches, per People. According to Rolling Stone, their divorce was finalized in March 2001, but they wed for a second time in 2006, ultimately breaking things off again that same year.

Despite the fact that Eminem and Kim were not always on good terms, that didn't stop the rapper from stepping in to help her family. In the early 2000s, Eminem adopted Kim's sister, Dawn Scott's, daughter while Dawn struggled with drug use. Dawn later died in 2016 of a suspected drug overdose, per People.

During one of their breaks, Kim welcomed a baby with her boyfriend, Eric Hartter. After Kim and Eminem rekindled their romance, the musician legally adopted their child in 2005. Hartter died in 2019.

Eminem is equally proud of all three of his children. "When I think about my accomplishments, like, that's probably the thing that I'm the most proud of, you know, is that — is being able to raise kids," he said during a 2020 appearance on "Hotboxin' With Mike Tyson."

Hailie Jade Scott

Hailie Jade was born on Christmas Day in 1995. She is the only biological child of Eminem, and he shares her with his ex, Kim. In 2001, Eminem spoke to the British publication Q (via People) about how Hailie was the push he needed to become a better man, calling her birth "a real wakeup call."

"She made me get my ass in gear — to make something of my life and try 10 quadrillion times harder than I had before," he shared. "Everything that I am doing right now is for Hailie … the money — it's for her college."

In 2004, he talked to Rolling Stone about how being a dad changed him. "Bein' a dad is definitely living a double life," he shared. "Even before Hailie was born, I was a firm believer in freedom of speech … But once I hit them gates where I live, that's when I'm Dad. Takin' the kids to school, pickin' 'em up, teachin' 'em rules. I'm not sayin' I'm the perfect father, but the most important thing is to be there for my kids and raise them the right way."

In 2020, Eminem revealed that Hailie had graduated from Michigan State University with a 3.9 GPA, per People. She earned her degree in psychology. "She's made me proud for sure," the rapper gushed during an interview on "Hotboxin' With Mike Tyson."

Hailie announced her engagement to boyfriend Evan McClintock in February 2023, writing on Instagram, "casual weekend recap… 😭💗 2.4.23 💍 i love you @evanmcclintock11." She is currently the host of a podcast titled "Just a Little Shady." During an episode of her podcast in February 2023, McClintock shared the story of their proposal, and how he asked Eminem for his blessing.

"Over the holidays, I was looking for an opportunity not to make it too obvious," McClintock recalled. "I saw your dad go downstairs, and I'm like, 'I gotta do it right now, or I'm not doing it today, and I'm gonna have to schedule another time.' So I just followed him downstairs and, thankfully, he was just down there getting your cake, and made it happen."

Alaina Marie Scott

Alaina Marie was born on Feb. 22, 1993 to Dawn Scott, the twin sister of Eminem's ex-wife Kim. In the early 2000s, Eminem legally adopted her, but he's been open about how Alaina has been a daughter to him since her birth. "I have full custody of my niece," he told Rolling Stone in 2004. "My niece has been a part of my life ever since she was born. Me and Kim pretty much had her, she'd live with us wherever we was at."

In that same interview, Eminem spoke about the rules he follows as a parent. "Teach them right from wrong as best I can, try not to lose my temper, try to set guidelines and rules and boundaries," he shared. "Never lay a hand on them. Let them know it's not right for a man to ever lay his hands on a female. Despite what people may think of me and what I say in my songs — you know, me and Kim have had our moments — I'm trying' to teach them and make them learn from my mistakes. It's almost like juggling — juggling the rap life and fatherhood."

Alaina is a travel and fashion Instagram influencer, who focuses on body positivity and mental health. In June 2023, Alaina tied the knot with longtime boyfriend Matt Moeller in a beautiful wedding in Detroit, Michigan. Speaking to People about her wedding day, Alaina revealed her dad walked her down the aisle. "I had an 80-ft long black and white checkered aisle and my dad walked me down the aisle," she said. "He wasn't going to miss that."

Stevie Laine Scott

Stevie Laine Scott was born on April 16, 2002. Stevie is the biological child of Kim and the late Eric Hartter, whom Kim dated while she and Eminem were broken up. Stevie was officially adopted by Eminem in 2005.

In August 2021, Stevie came out as nonbinary in a TikTok video, sharing their journey to "becoming more comfortable with" themselves. "Forever growing and changing," Stevie captioned the video, adding the hashtags #genderfluid" and "#bi."

As of June 2023, Stevie is in a relationship with TikToker Declan Jace, whom they often post with on TikTok.
