A Brief History of Ellen DeGeneres's Amazing Halloween Costumes

Last year was twice as fun, because Ellen dressed up as both George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin.

Sadly, Ellen wasn't the only one who had this brilliant idea. Meredith Vieira channeled the couple as well, and a couple members of the Good Morning America crew got in on it too.

Ellen perfectly mimicked the outfit Nicki Minaj wore as a guest on her show just a month prior.

Remember when Sofia's dress ripped at the Emmys? Ellen captured the look perfectly. Just wait until you see the back.

After going viral with their rendition of Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass," Sophia Grace and Rosie became even more popular during numerous stints on Ellen's show — so much so that Ellen dressed up as Sophia. And yes, that's Tony — the show's resident DJ — as Nicki Minaj, and one of Ellen's writers as Sophia Grace's sidekick, Rosie.

Jersery Shore became wildly popular after its 2009 premiere, mostly because of The Situation's abs and Snooki's impossibly tall hair. Ellen's attempt at the costume is only a slight exaggeration.

Ellen campaigned for a long time to get on the cover of O Magazine, and in 2009, it finally happened. Halloween was just a month before the cover hit newsstands, so Ellen prepared for the monumental event in the best way.

Ellen took Obama's first presidential campaign slogan a little too literally.

Jennifer Lopez's pregnancy was a matter of public debate in 2007, and rumors swirled constantly until she confirmed it. Since she was carrying twins, her bump got pretty big. Just wait until you see Ellen's costume sitting down.

Jane Kaczmarek joined Ellen during her season three Halloween special. It's hard to tell what exactly Jane was shooting for, but Ellen was in a pretty clear costume.

While this costume wasn't necessarily tied to anything current, it definitely was very elaborate.

Dr. Phil's daytime show started in 2002, with Ellen's The Ellen DeGeneres Show premiering a year after. Clearly, Ellen was poking fun at the little daytime rivalry. We only wish Dr. Phil had played her in return.
